I think u r confusing with preamps volts which some HU may claim to have 5-6ohm thoug usually this is about 2-4ohms.

few of the clarion HU's have 6-8 channel preamp outputs!!...

No, they have 5 preamp outs. check here http://www.blaupunkt.com/in/7646530310_main.asp

I quote "Variable subwoofer output, plus 4-ch preamp outputs make it simple to add and control additional amplification "

So are Blaupunkts HU good from SQ perspective. and how much do they cost ?

Jinu the current Blaus that we have tested lately, didnt have great SQ for the price they are sold. We were recently able to do an in-car A/B comparison and all things equal, the Kenwood 8529 had way better SQ than the Blau Seville. Better image centering, better vocals, better bass. Everybody who was there could hear the difference.

But then, LBM will say, all those 4-5 people had super hearing... Actually LBM its not that WE are extraordinary, its just that some people have destroyed their hearing with high SPL and are now probably incapable of hearing details in music.

Jinu, to top it all, the Blau was bought for 15k with B&W and the Kenwood was for 17k with B&W. The Blau didnt even have a preout cable cuz you have to buy that separately. YES, on a 15k HU, you have to spend more money to get a preout dongle. All said and done, unless one of the newer Blau sets wows us with its SQ we dont generally recommend Blau HUs, simply because you get better price/performance/features in Alpine, Kenwood, Pioneer etc.

are bahi this is not what I said. I said to compare the same make same series HU not different company and different series....Even the sony and pioneer will have difference in sound I even agree the alpine and pioneer have diffferent sound (ask ZAK).......rest if u wanna agree with me on this one then it is ok else it is your opinoin and I have mine .......lol

One more thing dont go for Blau.......

Hi Folks, I am now ready to enter Phase I of my ICE installation. Here is the configuration I have choosen:

1. JBL GTO607C - 160mm (6-1/2") 2-way component system
2. GTO527 - 130mm (5-1/4") 2-Way Loudspeaker
3. JBL GTO75.4 - 520 Watt 4-Channel Power Amplifier -
4. JBL GTO1200B 300mm BASS REFLEX SUBWOOFER BOX –
5. Pioneer 6850 HU

The fronts will be powered by the amp and the backs will be powered by the HU the remaining 2 channels on the amp will power the sub. There is one step remaining and that is with respect to the wiring.. went to the Connection Audison website and managed to only get more confused. So here is my understanding..please help
1. JBL speakers come with wiring hence will use them for the connection from Amp to Speaker (for fronts), HU to speaker(for rear) and Amp to Sub
2. What do i use for connecting HU to Amp ?
3. What do I use for connecting Battery to Amp
4. What do I use for connecting Amp to ground

Is there any other cabling that i need to change.

Where possible please specify exact model numbers.

Regards
Jinu

Get 2 piars of Twister or Monster Interlink Jr. for HU to amp.
Get a set of good 4GA cable for battery to amp and ground to amp. see this link

2. What do i use for connecting HU to Amp ? - Nice RCA cable and a remote turn-on wire (not required to be thick.
3. What do I use for connecting Battery to Amp - Good power cable. 4 Gauge. From Battery Positive to Amp Positive.
4. What do I use for connecting Amp to ground - Good power cable. Same gauge as positive. From Amp Negative to Car body (chassis)

I would recommend using connection audison cables. They can sure perform man!
Few days before saw an install in a CRV. He had some good components in the car like: Alpine 9833 HU, Alpine type R component speakers in the front and back, Alpine 1001 monoblock amp, 545 4channel amp, 501 monoblock amp, 2 Alpine type R 12" subs and a 15" sub.
The whole setup was wired using some good quality cables. He later insisted on connection audison and it was done. The difference was great. I think it was more about quality than a mere show off.

So go for it man!

For exact prices, PM Gunbir. (BTW, he's in middle of a river somewhere in MANALI).

Normally the power cables etc.. are charged according to the length.
