Hi everyone,

I have been following up the team-bhp forum for a few days. It seems very interesting indeed. Well, I bought a Octavia Ambiente a month ago (before the rider was launched) and I desperately want to upgrade the audio system.

This is what I want to do: (1) Add a CD changer in the boot. Right now, the head unit is a Blaupunkt Canberra C31 which supports cassette and radio only. (2) Add rear speakers (3) Look at the possibility of adding a subwoofer and amp - not sure about whether I want this at this stage.

This is what I do NOT want to do: (1) Change my head unit (2) Cut the rear shelf to add the rear speakers. My wife does not want me to change the original stuff .

So questions are: (1) What are good rear speakers that can fit into the available space i.e. 5.25 inches. Someone was telling me that Blaupunkt Odx 542 would be a good bet. Price is about Rs. 4000 for a pair. Are there any other alternatives? What price? (2) Whats the best price for the Blaupunkt CD Changer CDC-A03? (3) Any inputs on the amps? Can these be added later or is it better tho think about them before other stuff is bought. (4) Any inputs on the rear tweeters? There is a space for them in the back doors (5) Any good contacts in Delhi to buy all the above stuff?

- thanx

get a cd changer, upgrade the speakers in the shelf, add amp and an box subwoofer inside the boot, make and models depends on your choice and budget

my personal preference is for pioneer amp n rear shelf speakers n JBL or Blaupunkt for sub woofer box

Hey Cruise_control,

Welcome aboard.
Infact just before you posted for the first time i was wondering whether the octavia has speakers on the rear parcel shelf
Is it that the octavia has place for 5.25" speakers on the rear parcel shelf?

If that is the case, then you might want to consider a subwoofer as that would definitely help with your low frequencies since the 5"ers might not be adequate in that range, which also depends on your listening preferences and type of music.

Im sure you will get some suggestions real soon.
cheers

Hey Cruise,

I had posted the same topic a while back. Take a look here, I'm sure you'll get a few ideas.

Hi rtech,

What was the final configuration you bought for your Octavia - speakers, amps, subwoofers etc. Any pictures that you can share?

BTW, I am definitely buying a Blaupunkt CD changer (cost appx Rs. 14000). For the rear speakers and other stuff I am still thinking. Following are some Blaupunkt options for the 5.25 inch size (130mm) - Got it in an email from Blaupunkt folks. I am not sure if this would be readable easily:

Speaker System Max Power RMS Power Sensitivity Frequency Response ( Hz) Instal Depth(mm) Price(Rs)

ODx 542E 2 way coaxial 180W 60W 90dB 60-22000 41.5 Rs. 3,600

TSx542 2 way coaxial 120 W 40W 92 dB 70-20,000 51.6 Rs. 2,750

TSc 540 2 way component 150W 50W 93dB 70-22,000 51.6 Rs. 4,250

GTx 542 2 way coaxial 90W 30W 91dB 70-20,000 48 Rs. 1,900

VRx 130.1 2 way reference Speakers 140 W 60 W 93dB 50-32,000 Rs. 7,500

thanx

I second Jaggu's recomendations although you could use a Blaupunkt amp instead of the Pioneer. As far as speakers go Blau's velocity range is quite good although i have not heard JBL in the car. If I were u I'd add the Blau CD changer, get Blau Velocity component speakers in the deck and get a Blau sub tube. I'd look at the Tsc 540 speaker, GTA 450 amp and GTt1200 sub along with the A03 CD changer.

the RS BTW comes with a Alpine headunit.

The Blaupunkt CD changer is not MP3 compatible.
