The build quality is not that great as older Blaus used to be.
How does it compare to the Pioneer and Sony HUs?

Compared to a Pioneer, I'll get the pioneer.
Compared to Sony, it's Blaupunkt the winner.

I'm using a P1Y, and I'm quite satisfied with the sound.
Only problem I had was with the motorised face.
I had it repaired twice cause it just wouldn't open for some reason.

I hate the rotary commander on the P1Y. Never liked the sound of it too much either. Always found it edgy.

The only good thing was the break dance video with the DJ spinning away. Not a very good reason to buy it though.

Rev
Which HU are you going to buy ?
P1Y has one commander for volume, songs, audio functions so it is hard to use.

but Dj spinning visual is awesome..

Cheers,
Mugen_Power.

So does Alpine but I have not had a problem. Press once for sub, twice for balance, thrice for fader etc..maybe the P1Y's implemantation is not as simple.
