Thanks Navin and Gunbir. I'll try and upload a pic of my HU - its a Blaupunkt.

However, I'm not sure if the Lumina listed in those pages is the Lumina sold in the middle-east. As I understand it the same brand name is used for an MPV in the US while the Lumina/Holden monaro/commodore is sold there as a Pontiac (GTO and some other model).

PS: It does not have a CD changer control either - its a 6-CD IN-dash changer HU.

Any updates based on the pic, or shall I go ahead with corrective surgery?

Hey steer...

Try the below links...maybe that can help..

1. Monster iCruze -- iCruze allows you to control your iPod through your existing car stereo. The iCruze interface installs in your car's dashboard behind your car stereo. ** This is the better choice i guess**

2. Crutchfield Advisor - iPods and iPod Accessories - iPod Car Stereo Installation Guide -- This installation guide will help you connect your iPod to your existing factory or aftermarket in-dash receiver.

Hope this helps...

Time to dig up this thread again.

Reason? Same equipment, same problem, different car.

And with this car we dont even have the option of changing the HU.

Setup in the car -

Integrated Alpine HU with some speakers and a sub and an Alpine CD changer in the boot.

HU has 4 modes - Tuner, CD, Tape and Phone. I dont need the tape. Actually, dont need the CD changer either.

Got the HK Drive+Play fixed yesterday with a lot of difficulty (will upload pics later) but its still connected to the HU via the Antenna input, transmitting thru FM. The sound quality is not very good - the HU seems to have a really bad tuner as radio reception is very poor too.

Cannot connect the Drive+Play to the CD-in as the CD input and connectors are all Optical.

Question - if I wire the Audio Out from the Drive plus play to a cassette adapter and somehow figure out of way to send the wires through the insides (so they wont be dangling out of the Tape loader) - will the sound quality be better?

I.E., the proposed setup is like this:

1. iPod connected to HK Drive + Play

2. Drive + Play audio Out connected to a cassette Tape adapter.

3. Tape adapter pushed into HU in a way that it cant be removed.

is this good or do I have any other option?

It will have better SQ than FM but less than direct connection. But it will work fine.

Also if the wire coming out of the Tape slot is good for you aesthetically then no issues.

Thanks - I checked it out. Is a bit expensive (99 pounds for the unit, another 50 pounds for the CD Changer retention cable) but at the moment it looks like the only option. I dont really want to be able to control the iPod thru the HU - the Drive+Play does that and I've got the display right up on the dashboard to the right of my Steering.

Checked it out already - for Auxiliary Inputs it says "we have not researched your car sufficiently" and I get all sorts of unrelated adapters.

Wire wont come out of tape slot - my installer said he can push the wire in between the HU and the faceplate so it goes through un-noticed.

Steer, check this thread: http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/produc...aux-input.html
Quote:
Sam Kapasi : But what I heard is that they disconnect your AM (a useless thing anyways)
So if you switch to tuner and select your band as AM, then you can hear the iPod.

DerAlte : 2. ... cut the AM tuner track going to the mixer, and bring that input out to stereo jack or RCA sockets. The iPod / MP3 player can be connected to that. You would only need to switch the tuner to AM, and balle balle!
