The Skoda Laura come with 3-Way stock locations in the front as well as rear.

In the front door the midbass is towards the rear of door while midrange and tweeter are towards the front, little weird placement but can be worked on, they might have done this to enhance bass in both front seats and rear seats using a common location as there is no dedicated subwoofer in the car. if not this then definitely to make space for bottles in door pad .

Similar is the layout in Bentley Continental GT where the 6 X 9" bass driver for rear seats is mounted towards the rear of door (single so it is front)

In the rear door of laura all three of them are located towards the front of the door.

Embera comes with front, rear speakers and 8" subwoofer, powered by 6ch amplifier (the supplied sub is DVC hence 6ch). Both front and rear stock locations are 6.5" along with a stock location for 8" subwoofer in the parcel shelf.

I have a sneaky suspicion this is the reason. Them design engineers usually have their priorities set all wrong :-/

Regarding the damping, i wil take it seriously from now on as i didn't do much on my previous setup as compared to wht u have specified. And u r right abt the Skoda door panels twice as stiff and better damped as most Korean or Jap car.

in fact u r always right even in ur assumptions and tht makes novice people like me to come back for more.

Thanks a lot and really appreciate it.
Sorry about your car. I dont see much sense in attmepting 5.1 in a car. 5.1 dictates 6 discrete channels of encoded information this is usually available only on DVDs and very select CDs.

There are many very good speakers, amplifiers and HUs but without a good sound proof enviroment all this is mute. For example for speakers I would consider brands like Dynaudio, Morel, Focal, Infinity, Hertz, etc... for HUs Kenwood, Alpine, Pioneer, Clarion, Eclipse, etc...

Hope this provides a good starting point.

The place where the bottles are to be kept is the best place for the components woofer. They should ideally be close together i.e. the midbass, midrange and tweeter.
In the Laura you can see next to the bottle is the midrange and the tweeter is above that near the door handle lever whereas the midbass is at the extreme right of the circled picture in hydras post i.e. closer to the back seat B-pillar.

I think the Amp is under the front seat. There is some black box there with wires running into it.

BTW - who manufactures the HU, Speakers etc?

The SQ is amazing.

Cheers,

There is no amp for the laura. I spent quite a bit of time looking around for it. The company later confirmed it.The box you see is the one that controls all the airbags and stuff. And if you fiddle around too much with the front passenger seat, the airbag fault warning lamp lights up..
