I just bought a JVC KD R415 USB/CD/Aux/Radio player for my Ikon for 4500 including installation. The sound seems pretty good when played back from my Pioneer 6X9 speakers. I suppose this is the cheapest branded USB/CD player available in the market.

Gurus, can you please tell me the cheapest available option for ICE with the following basic features:
1. 2 Din HU with USB / Bluetooth connectivity
2. Steering mounted audio controls (can be OEM or after market) - Nice to have
3. How good are JBL speakers or do you have any other cheaper alternative

I am planning to buy a Scoripio mhawk and want speakers that will go well with a scorpio.

I think the Pioneer P8000BT goes for 9k, add on steering wheel controls are available for most Pioneers.

Kenwood (503) has some HUs that can be Bluetooth enabled with an add on interface (BT200).

Look at JBL's GT5 series these are the entry level JBLs. They might fit your budget.

Hey Guys,

Seek help in deciding amongst the following HUs - Kenwood 994, Alpine 117, Alpine 9887.

9887 is amazing, but lacks USB/latest iPod support.
994 has it all, but per my limited listening experience, Kenny lacks the punch when compared to an Alpine.
117 I do not have any experience with - however on paper looks to be a worthy buy

I don't plan to have an amp, at least to start off with. The HU will power Rainbow SLX 165s.

Guys having experience on the above, pls provide your suggestions.

How much will the 117 be in India (assuming it's available)?

Regards,
Irwin

The 9887 does work with the Ipod Classic 160GB. Which Ipod do you have. In fact my mom's 9887 is wired to handle 2 ipods. Dont ask me how. B&T did the install.

just installed the eclipse CD 5030 in a car.

has all features of 9887 incl time alignment, iPod connectivity through a simple cable, USB support, Bluetooth with a separate mic that works awesome, phonebook on HU, parametric custom sound equalisation with MEI 100 mic - no need of expensive stuff like imprint to buy.

fantastic stuff, if u know anyone who can get it for u.

Eclipse i've heard is trifle bright - and biggest issue is lacking service support in India.

Moreover, i plan to initially not have an amp. In which case Alpine really suits since it's got the strongest on-board amp.

994's screen's also really difficult to read during the day - another point where Alpine scores.

Moreover, i've personally heard the 9887 and 994, and i like the 9887 way better. Am hoping that the 117 will sound similar to the 9887.

Can anyone tell me where is the best place in Mumbai to buy a highend head unit? I looking for either the Alpine 9887 or the Pioneer P880PRS.

Any idea what would be the cost of these head units and which would be a better option for a set up with Illusion Electra EL6.1 components, Illusion Electra Coaxials, Infinity 120.9 sub, JBL 4.5 4ch amp and JBL 301.1 mono

Hi guys,

In my quest to procure a highend headunit in Mumbai that has Time Alignment, Direct Control for iPod and Hi Volt 3 RCA which being priority on my list; I have been inclined towards a Pioneer headunit but they are rarely available and cost much higher.

I happend to have a well known car audio dealer at Andheri East offer me the Pioneer P80RS (Iwas looking for the fully loaded Pioneer P880PRS) for 24k. Now to my knowlede, this HU doesnt have Direct iPod Control and needs and iPod Adapter. However, when I asked for the more superior Alpine 9887, I was quoted 21k for the same. How is that an inferior P80RS costs more than the way superior 9887??
