Default Re: Prices of HEAD UNITS

Went Shopping for car battery today and after getting the battery replaced, couldn't resist buying a Head Unit and got myself a JVC 526 HU.

As my car was running stone age Sony mp3 Player which was unable to play any discs and I was forcing it sing with life support system(USB Modulator)
I survived on this setup for a couple of years till last evening, my USB modulator was a mess, it broke a few months back, did lot of D.I.Y. stuff to it already to keep it running.

At-last, I have a cool looking HU now.
I don't have huge budget for car audio however I am happy with the purchase as it fits my basic need for USB playback + tuner.
Got the HU for Rs.4800 with B&W.(may be little over priced compared to delhi but I wanted it now or never)

It plays very well after my custom setup, My speakers include 2 Blaupunkt 3 way oval rear speakers in box and 2 smaller blaupunkt speakers for front in dash. Sounds good and installer asked if I have a sub in rear .

As it was dusk, couldn't click installation pics, there's nothing exciting in the HU replacement so don't want to waste anyones time and bandwidth.

However have these 2 PICS show it in action :-)

I am using the Ken wood MP3 Cd player and USB out put too.The bass boost is quite good and the clarity is great if I tell the truth it is better than the Home theatre at home.It has no blue tooth. It is serving me for the past two years. No issues at all except once re setting of the error.

Note from Mod : This is NOT a "What ICE?" thread. Please stick to the topic i.e. to discuss the prices of head-units only. All off-topic posts have been deleted.

Hi Team,

One of my friend is returning from the US, and he said he can get me ONE item from there.
I have booked a Beat Diesel PS version (only Power Steering and AC) and yet to take delivery of it.

I thought it might be a good idea to get some ICE stuff from US. Was looking at Walmart website and found this really nice deal.

Walmart.com: Pioneer DXT-2369UB Complete Car: Auto Electronics

Do you think this is a good deal?
Are there any issues if I get the HU and Speakers from US?
My budget is around 15k for HU and Speakers.
Please recommend if there are any better ones available -I listen to Rehman, Soft Rock, Hip-Hop, Bollywood and Tollywood.

Thanks in advance to all you guys for your expert comments and inputs.

Regards,
CT.

For a low budget setup I suggest you get your products locally. Bringing it from the US doesn't give you any substantial saving and is certainly not worth the hassle. Rather ask your friend to bring something not available here.

Especially with the added risk that if the Tuner FM tuning has only the US spacing, one is not able to latch on to most Indian FM stations!

solution exists, but you have to add on a cost of 3k to the whole thing.
2500 for the fix, and 500 for fitting.
look for band expanders on google, and get it shipped from uk or NZ.

Using it quite happily!
