Here you go! I guess these are called Digital Media Receivers. This is from Sony, but you do have options from other brands as well.

Back in 2010 I've bought this: http://www.sony.co.in/product/dsx-s200x but I am sure newer models available for cheaper. This is working flawlessly so I can recommend it.

I whipped out the original invoice from Amazon.com (was in US then for sometime) and I see they billed me $150, and they're selling it for $109 now. I am not sure if I could invoke the warranty here in India, so I treat such purchases as good as grey market.

Is yours a US sourced unit? Can you help me with the FM Radio frequencies that work in India? I've read a few posts which say US HU's do not lock on to even FM frequencies. Just wanted to check if that statement is still valid.

I have bought 2 solid state car stereos from US before. The one I bought in 2008 (Boss) had a configuration setting which sets the FM radio in US/Europe mode (or was it to set the increment of frequency by 0.2 MHz or 0.1 MHz when scanning?), but the one I bought in 2010 (Sony) didn't have any such setting. It tunes to frequencies X.Y where 88 < X < 110 and Y is ODD. In Bangalore the frequencies are 91.1 91.9 92.7 93.5 94.3 98.3 100.1 101.3 102.9 104 106.4 MHz hence except last 2 stations everything else works.

The JVC i can find online for approx 14k and i can find the Kenwood 500BT for $164 on Amazon. However the Kenwood india website mentions the U5130BT which has the same features but i cant find any price. Can somebody please help me out with some feedback / price of the two and where to procure it from.

Currently leaning towards the Kenwood as it looks more close to stock than the JVC.
Bought the R900BT couple of months ago for my Baleno from JC Road, Bangalore. Excellent HU and great value for money in my opinion. It was a little difficult to get as most places were out of stock. Had a look at the latest JVC models and they looked really tacky and horrible so chose the slightly older R900BT instead. Please have a look at the design of the HU's before you buy, some of the new ones look really fresh. Just my opinion. Thanks.

Upgraded the stock HU of my City iVtec to Blaupunkt Los Angeles 500. 6.2" touchscreen unit with in-built BT. Damage: INR 16800/-. 2year warranty standard. Retaining the steering controls was the main reason I preferred this over Pioneer avx-2590BT (price ~18500/-). There is no additional interface required for the steering controls to work, as opposed to Pioneer, where I would have to spend additional 4.5K for the steering control interface.

Features and details:

Los Angeles 500

Also added rear view camera. Price INR2000/-.

Can the gurus please suggest which HU out of the following is better in terms of pure Sound Quality and advanced audio set-up options (I am looking to amp 4 speakers and a sub, I will also give TA a shot) and for what reasons:

Pioneer® AVH-X4500BT
JVC KW-AV71BT
Pioneer AVH-P1400DVD
ALPINE CDE-W235BT
Pioneer AVH-X1500DVD
ECLIPSE AVN-50D

I am looking a pure SQ HU and also need advice on whether a used/refurbished system bought on ebay in US makes sense. I have a friend coming from US to India next month who can bring it for me. Please advise!

It isn't officially available in India. Apparently, no company chooses to offer the 1 DIN fold out display receivers in India(they did about a decade back don't know why now?)

I am planning on Sony 601BT for my new RITZ ZXI. Snapdeal costs shows it to be 23990/- . But Mandovi MGA quote is 30K. And the dealer says that if bought from outside, the warranty will be void. !!
Any idea about the cost in other locally ?
