Unhappy Sony MEX2000

I recently bought a new Car audio-DVD system..Head unit MEX2000 from Sony ..installed thru my regular car audio accessories guy.

My problem is that if there is a CD already inside the head unit and start the vehicle/system then it takes an awful lot of time to read it..almost abt 30-40 secs

else if u put it in it takes abt 10 secs to read a CD ..

Is there any problem with the HU?? or is this usual as my audio guy says ...

wanted yr inputs as i was planning to confront him with yr advice

Early help will be appreciated

Tks

Sounds to me like a problem. If this is normal, I'd be very surprised.

I have the sony Mex-R1, an earlier model. And believe me, it takes more than 2 minutes sometimes to read a MP3 DVD. But if it was a MP3 CD, then it is hardly 15 seconds. So was it a DVD that was in your disc when you started your car ?

Yup, totally normal on the 2000 and R1. Very irritating and thats one of the reasons why I got rid of the Sony.
