Thanks Blueraven. THanks B&T
Yeah! I second that, the EL 4.1 sounded good for a 4" Component speaker. Clear Highs, Produces the mids of a speaker one size bigger, Good Value for money.

NImz, Radek, gmano guys can you post some pics of the EL4.1 install. Wanted to see the location of the tweeters. It would really help as I will hopefully get mine installed next Monday (Another EL4.1 in a Sparku)

Default Another EL4.1 for a spark

Finally got the ICE fitted in. Received the EL 4.1 Courier that B&T had sent at 10:00 pm on Tuesday night. Was absolutely surprised that they deliver at those hours.

Went to Sprocket over the weekend. I had originally planned to get it installed at Auto Planet but then later on decided to pick up a 6X9 from sprocket and then get both of them installed at once. Wanted to audition the Hertz DCX 690 & Infinity Reference but unfortunately they did not have a setup(only for the Infinity Kappa, which was way above the budget). Finally coudn't decide on the 6X9 and decided to some more research on them and wait for advice from fellow BHPians.

It took about 2 hours for the install but it was worth the wait. The woofer is in the stock location and the tweeters are inserted in the A pillar. Not a bad experience overall.
The comps are much more than I expected and I am fully satisfied
Thanks to Radek, Gmano & Nimz for their advice. Thanks to B&T for all the help.

Congrats Ethan. EL 5.1 is the best option for spark's stock location.

Santro I heard has a very tight stock location.. I mean.. once the speakers are fitted there is not much space below the speakers whcih is very necessary for good sound reproduction. Again this is what I have heard and not seen..

Maybe the gurus can throw some light on this.. In such a case the EL series have pretty big magnets and demand more space than a conventional speaker which could pose a problem..

The stock location in the Santro is in the dash. It takes 4" speakers. For larger sizes, you will have to think of cutting the door & using MDF spacer rings.
I'm no guru, just a Santro owner.

@ Nura. Yes the santro takes 4" speakers but what is the depth of the stock location?
The EL series is pretty fat!!

Am no guru either

@ Nimz, santro can take the EL 4.1, fit wont be a problem.
I think, vino_david was asking about the sound quality of the speakers if fitted in the santro.

yes mano. Thats what am saying..

The stock will take a 4" .. no doubt!!

But for the speaker to "breathe" it needs space below the speaker as well.. that means the stock location should have good depth and not just be right enough for the speaker..

If you see the Spark stock location you will know what I mean.. theres space below the speaker so the speaker "breathes" and thats one of the reason why the EL 4.1 sounds like a 5" comp. And I doubt whether the Santro stock location has that much space... I have heard that the dash comes right below the speaker.
Hope its clear now

Thanks mate for the wishes. If you are trying to decide between a 4" co-ax and the EL4.1 I think you can safely go with the EL4.1 it will definitely sound better than most of the 4" co-ax. As far as the SQ goes vis-a-vis a santro, Nimz definitely has a valid point.
