Got the JBL GT5 A604 amp installed on my Swift yesterday. Had the options of the GTO 504 & GTO 6040 (think this is a limited edition) but since I was sure that I wasn't getting a sub woofer at any point of time, felt this entry level amp would be adequate to power the front components (GTO 607c) and the rear co-axials (CS 3196).

Loved the way the front components sound, powered by the amp but there seemed to be something wrong with the way the rear's sound, got to check with the installer. Felt like the rear's were sub woofer's ... jus a lot of whoosh ... whoosh coming from it

Had it installed from Autoshop, Bangalore and paid 6500 for the amp with B/W and the wiring (Monster)/RCA added up to 1300. FYI, the GTO 504 & GTO 6040 were at 8500 with B/W. Appreciate the professionalism of these guys and have stuck with them through the entire ICE buy/upgrade process.

I ended up having to choose between the GT5 A604 and the Blaupunkt 4 Mk II (which retailed at 6300), I know both are just entry level amp's but which would have been more bang for the buck (not that it matters now that I've already settled for the GT5 and am happy with the sound but would like to know)

And, I guess Sam would be happy to have me off his back finally, with me earlier pestering him with queries on when the GT5 amps would hit the shelves . Thanks Sam.

I am planing either one of these speaker setup:

GTO 607C & GTO 937
OR
GT5-650C & GT5-963

Now here are my question:

1. Which Combination will be better..GTO or GT5 (both have diff spec)??
2. Do I really required a Amplifier(I am not planning for Sub) if yes then which one??

Additional Info: my head unit is Sony - 470 with USB(52*4 W)

Simple if you can afford the GTO then go with it!

I heard a pair of GT5-963 playing today in a maruti 800 with a sealed box and it did sound fair enough for the price point. It was being run directly of the 2050 HU.

Ratan, I suggest you decide on a budget first

After some time spent on testing I have come to the conclusion that the GT5 series is less bright than the GTO.
Some of you might find that interesting.

Yes, but this was on the components. I have tested across the range.

True but usually the signature carries. Iwould have assumed teh same team did much of teh developemnt and would have voiced all the speakers similarly.

Then again, thanks to your tests, we now have conclusive opinion.

I have a preference for a more laid back sound that JBL's GTO series. So it good for me. In any case the difference is only about 2-3db so a little nudge on the EQ can make things brighter if you feel the need.

Navinji,Why is this confusing me?
Sam says GTO is brighter than GT5.
I prefer it laid back too.
But, U're asking me to brighten the bright GTO more?

No what he said was that those that prefer the GTO signature can use the eq to boost the GT5.

Or those who like DISCO sound can go for GTO and those who like laid back sound go for GT5.
