The sound quality in Alpine in awesome compared to Pioneer head units I have owned/ listened to. Between, I have not listened to high end head units by Pioneer.

It's not like the Pioneer P880 is far behind the Alpine 9887 or anything, the Pio sounds a lot sharper than the entry level Pioneer heads, but IMO the 9887 sounds real sweet. As of now I personally prefer the Alpines and Eclipse sound.

I did not have chance to audition the 9887, but I have P80RS and I am really happy with it and do not regret my decision. I think the P880 and P80RS are same, correct me if I am wrong.

Hmm, I had brought one Alpine 9887 from US a few months back for another friend of mine. He decided for another model and hence I sold it at cost price to one TBhpian through the classified section. Now I think I should have kept it to replace my older Alpine in my Santro.

Default Hi gusy

I would like to shed some light as I feel the Pioneer P880RS has a slight advantage over the Alpine 9887 in terms of tuning the HU

The Pioneer P880 RS has 16 Band EQ selection compared to Alpine 9887 having 7 Band and also when the Pioneer on full active slope can go to 36 db and alpine up to 24 db

Also the Pioneer comes along with Auto EQ mic with it but for the Alpine you need to buy the Imprint device with would cost you USD: 200 Extra and also not available in India I guess you know the by now.......

Welcome to Team-BHP. The disadvantage I find with my alpine 9887 is that steering remotes are not available. That is the main advantage I see with Pioneer.

I guess its not your problem as the Alpine 9887 does not have Steering Remote in its acessories list so no need to regret i guess

I have a ton of CD's in Hyderabad. When I moved to Bangalore, I decided to copy them as a lossless wma for myself because my brother would listen to the CDs.

I insert my lossless wma cd into my 9887 & it displays "unsupported". I am amazed. Then I look around the internet only to find that Alpine does not support lossless format directly but only through an Ipod!

I am shocked. I hate any form of compression & this really had put me off. Plus I hate Ipods!

Guys,

Does the IMPRINT hardware/software come bundled with 9887?. According to
Alpine Asia site, it should.

Alpine Electronics of Asia Pacific Co., Ltd.

Can someone who has bought the 9887 confirm this?.

Thank you.

Hi,
I think the IMPRINT hardware costs additional <10K apart from the HU. And I suppose they don't come bundled with 9887.

Thank you Raju. I saw in your other thread that you had bought P80 for 19k. I called up sprocket and they said they never had stock of P80 and never sold it to anyone. Where did you buy your P80?. Please let me know. Thank you.

You could copy them as WAV files . That will play on any CD player.

Hi, The sprocket doesn't stock Pioneer as they are dealers for Panasonic and Alpines and they may not provide you with a great price. I got it arranged through the Twisters, they charged me 19.5K, but for the same price now, you should be able to get P88, I guess. Try some other stores since, sprocket has cheated a lot of T-BHPians.
