What I liked about this Kenwood HU is that it has a 24bit DAC (Burr Brown), which means the SQ is way superior to the Pio units at this price range.
I would suggest to try listen to both the HU pioneer and kenwood as music is subjective you might think kenwood is bad and pioneer better.

4036 is available in my city for 4700 without B&W.

@NIP--> Respect the enthusiasm Sir, but BURR BROWN DAC is quite simply not available in this price range in an HU anywhere in the world.

Also Burr Brown introduced the technology so their name is associated with it ina big way right but I guess today there's so many other DAC types which say for eg Pioneer, Sony, Alpine etc use ? GooRoo's ?

Also, if the DAC is better on your HU than your mp3 player, then it should mean that with a USB connection you should get better SQ than with Aux-In, right? (Do mp3 players even have good DAC?)

dude scaryskulls...its simply what i read when i got the HU. no reason why burr brown circuitry shouldn't exist on cheaper HUs. here's some links on the HU (diff model names but same HU). they cant all be wrong can they:

KENWOOD KDC 4036 - CARAUDIO.KG
Kenwood KDCW4737U

here's something dvbcaraudio.co.uk says about the HU:
Powered by a 50W x 4 Power MOSFET amplifier, it’s equipped with a front USB interface allowing easy connection of your MP3 player. The KDC-W4537UG is also compatible with AAC/WMA/MP3/WAV files. What’s more, it is equipped with 24bit D/A converter manufactured by Burr-Brown, and a 2.5V RCA output. FYI, Here's the link.

cheers
