Currently looking a neat carpc setup. I was thinking about using the Zotac miniPC setups. How feasible is it except that we need to use a additional power supply/adapter?

Does anyone know what if Scosche has the double DIN adaptors available for Polo/Vento?
Thanks in advance.

I would like to see how you mounted the HD Webcam in the car.

Did you try video recording in HD mode? I have a Microsoft HD Webcam (Lifecam Cinema HD) purchased for the same purpose but ended up being not so happy. In 720P mode, the video has mild choppiness and the cam eats up CPU power (1.8 Ghz, Dual Core) like no tomorrow. Would like to hear your experience and videos from Logitech HD cam.

The last I heard that Xenarc made good quality touch-screens for CarPC use. Lilliput comes next!

A bit of research on google & Ebay.com can give you a fair idea!

Just came back from a unplanned destination- Goa instead of Trivandrum due short leave of partner.
The install was a quick one , its pushed into the gap, picture below. will look out to fix in the front area when i get free time. There is very little lag in camera starting up in centrafuse 1-2 sec. there is no lag in audio playback during this time. Win7 cpu gauge climbs 10% and drops back.

On smooth road the video was good in max resolution, but due to the open angled hinges in uneven roads there was vibrations in camera mounting.

Since it is towards the rear the focus is into cabin area than the road, so have to move it near the windshield.

Videos through logitech software was good enough but through centrafuse is choppy. there is no 720p setting available in centrafuse, so i guess. 22minutes takes 1.1gb of space.

Gurus,
Read through the entire thread on one go, very impressive. Am a total fan of all you guys who built their carputer , especially Gigy

I been following almost all the carputer installation threads but this thread is the most detailed one with lot of pictures, which really helps. I can't help myself starting to build one for my own car too. Its a total addiction and am loving every moment of it

My car Ford Fiesta 1.4 Diesel (Mar 2010)

Below are the parts I bought so far:
1] Lilliput 669GL-70NP/C/T-HB-RV 7" HDMI, DVI, VGA High Brightness, 4 Wire Resistive Touch Screen Monitor - mp3car - $239.95
2] M2-ATX-HV 140W - $64.99 [ Gurus: do you think this is good enough or 160W was better ? ]
3] Intel Atom dual core 1.6Mhz with 945GCLF2D - Rs. 5260 /-
4] 2GB DDR2 800Mhz Ram - Rs. 1,300/-
5] 250GB Seagate 2.5inch laptop HDD - Rs. 1,700/-
6] Bluetooth GPS receiver, bought long back I think I paid around 2k
7] Dlink - DT122 Bluetooth receiver - Rs. 1000/-

The whole challenge and excitement begins in setting it up in the car Dash. I have no clue how to remove the double din stock player from my fiesta dash [Need Help]

Gurus please your expertise required.

Thanks
Latesh

Good start. You must follow frank'S'mehta for fiesta setting up.

Get in touch with any good installer and get fittings done, Its always better to learn panel opening from expert rather than breaking and learning. I think you will need some fiberglass work.

You can find details in ICE section about their commercial involvement.

Hope you picked a double din frame and trim also along with the monitor in case you are not going fiberglass way to fix the display.

hey friends,
i have a noob question for u gigy, i went through the whole thread and franks thread too and several other threads too but what i dont seem to get is that how are you able to hook up 2 or more amplifiers to a single sound card, like for example franks card is asus xonar and he is running if im not wrong then around 4 amps, how on earth did he managed to do that when there are not so many output slots on the card itself, one thing which i can think of is y cables but arnt those high loss y cables and is he deploying more than one y cable splitters? if there is another way please let me know the secret and if possible do post a link of some pics, thanks for the trouble mate.

I am using a 5 channel amplifier. So the splitting is done internally.
Have given it front left and front right from pc which is set to 5.1 out, that is to enable room correction. rest of the channels from pc are not in use presently.

You can use the rear L/R and rear surround L/R to connect another two amplifiers in speaker fill mode through the audio control panel of pc if this is supported.

some amplifiers have built in pre out to parallel another amplifier.

There may be other option, which i don't know

hi mate. there is no secret. LOL.
It's the case with most sound cards these days with a 5.1 output. In this case, the fronts (2 channels), rears (2 channels) and subwoofer (1 channel mono) are given outputs from the soundcard. It's not rocket science, but yes it needs quite a bit of planning ;-)
