Arrow Dynes V/S Illusion Carbon - Interesting.......

Illusion vs Dynaudio interesting. I would like to believe the unbiased opinion people who have actually used them, rather A-B'd them. What say B&T.
Dynaudio has stopped OE Business. They do not sell their raw drivers any more.

Home audio is for other forums - we will discuss that else where

Yes, mounting the Dynes is a big big problem. Will have to get a housing made. Sure will look rather poor. I do not want to cut any doors etc.

I have not used the Dynes - as yet.

However, the Illusion products I am rather well versed with. Must have used all the products - except the electra series in some car or the other.
Yes, the Carbons are great products - simply superb VFM. They may be the cheapest 'a' group speakers available in the market.

They are not at the top - cutting edge - maybe. However, for the price - they are great !!

The Rainbow Reference
Alpine Fi Status
Focal - K2 or BE
Hertz Mille [not heard]
Morel
Just to name a few - may be better, but have not had the chance to audition them.
I will compare the Carbons to the Dynes & the MB Quarts. All 3 will be running of the same HU & Amplification. Alpine & Steg. Cars may be different, but 'tone' will be apparent. I hope.

I shall write about it - for sure. In an unbias manner.
I have no commercial interest in Audio & I will say what I 'hear' & 'believe'
No offence intended - to anyone - but truth will be told by me.

Give me a chance to audition & I will have an opinion !!!

This is with respect to the older Dynes or the newer?

Price should not be an issue, there are pros and cons to both products. Both are A list speakers and there is no problem comparing the two. It is like saying that the Steg K Competition cannot be compared to the Focal amps just because the price in India is nearly 4 times or over. It is not like comparing a completely average speaker like say, a Lightning Audio component set to a Focal K2 Power. That would be outright unfair.

I have not done a careful A-B of the Dynes versus the Illusion, but certainly will this time. I myself expect and hope the Dynes fare better. Bhagwan's ears will be used as measurement equipment. I will bring the ear buds.

Too good;

I like the sense of humour !! Well done.

Why ?

Any particular reason ?

Just because Dynaudio is a more 'famous brand' !!!!

Please;

Let us keep an open mind.
Listen to them - for what they are & what they are doing;
No pre concieved notion - No bias.

Both, actually all 3 are owned by me, in essence they are like my children. How can one love more than the other ?
Yes, one may bet better grades in school, that is OK, but we will give each and evey one an equal chance. Then how they fair is up to their own aptitude & ability.

All 3 Comps in the cars are running on Steg Amps. All have Top of the Line HU's from Alpine. All have Optima Batteries.

Actually, the Illusions have a slight advantage, are in a Skoda. Great car for audio install. The Mb quarts are in the Swift. Not so good for an ICE & the Dynaudio's are in the worst of the lot, in the I-10.
So if at all, the dynes are at a disadvantage.

Let us see how it turns out.

Once the install is complete, we can even invite forum members for a listen and their opinions. I would like to know what others have to say.

Should be interesting.........

Nope, not at all. I am the last one to get carried away just because the brand is fancy or the product is expensive. If you remember, I pointed out something I dont like about your latest hi-fi possession just yesterday - a product that is neither cheap nor a non-brand by any standards. But, I have high regard for Dynaudio as a product. I have truly enjoyed each and every product of theirs, which is mostly home audio. The car gear that I have installed has also lived up to my expectations although others have had slightly unfortunate experiences.

B & T is talking about the buttons on a new cd player that arrived yesterday. I was taking snaps to mail out & B & T met me, so he came in to take a look and commented on the quality of the buttons on the front plate. He did not like them & his point was valid;

But the 240's will surely make for some interesting listening.

This is the Damping I take from 'Hermit Audio. Our B & T sells it.
Maybe it is Noise Kill. I do not know the name.

What ever it is, it is the 'most' important part of the install.

I recommend its use very emphatically !!

Anyone & Everyone should use it. Even in the most 'basic' of installs.

Allocate a budget for it. Fully worth the money spent !!
Too much in my case - 100 sq. ft. + was used to install in this I-10.
I put 3 layers in the front doors & the entire boot + tyre well + hatch etc. A & B Pillars etc.

Yes I have tested a sample of this material earlier.
There is no such thing as "Too much damping"
B, with 3 layers of damping did you still have enough room for the speaker's magnets?

Navin, I have put three layers of Damping on 3 parts of the door.
Not one on top of the other.

If you see the pictures clearly, you shall notice that 2 parts are visible. The 3rd one is the plastic cover - that fits on to the door. All 3 parts have been covered with damping.

Therefore the Dynaudio has enough place to be mounted & more to spare behind it.....
