Navin ji, whats your advise in this?

Nitin: I heard the Polk DB from Circuit City, may be they had a bad piece, it was bad. The mid was flat and highs were very high. The mp3 was played at flat settings, and the mp3 were 320 kbps on JVC

Mad Bull, I am not a Guru. I am a Mod. My experience with audio (especially modern audio is quite limited - Gunbir, Sam, B&T, BlueRaven, LBM, etc.. are the guys to ask).

I have only heard one Polk DB speaker the 690. It was much brighter than the JBL 937 and to be honest i find the JBLs bright. So i am not surprised by what you report.

If you want marine grade speakers there are many othe brands like the Alpine M600, Infinity 602M/6902M etc..

Navin: Thanks. Even I was thinking about Infi and Alpine. Alp is quite costly. Hows the Infi I mean, the mid and low? Based on your ear experience

No idea buddy. You could have changed the head unit. or should have tried the same head unit with multiple speakers.

The setups are pretty screwed up. So you primarily decide by palying the same setup for all the other options you have.

So its like FOR BAD SETUP, WHICH ONE IS RELATIVELY GOOD. I found polks to be better than all of the others, individually it wasn't impressive though. I am hopeful It'll be good in a dedicated setup.

I have never used Infinity in my car. My mom prefered them to Blaupunt and Alpine and my wife has them in her car. The 6010 (older model in my wife's car) was a bit forward but the 6020 (newer model in my mom's car) was more to my taste.

In the end it is your ears that will be he final judge.

Nitin: I tried Sony, Pio, JVC and Clarion HUs. It all sounded the same. JBL was sounding much better. Also, when the Polk was connected via Pio amp, the SQ went bad even more compared to JBL and Kicker. I dont have any other shop here for demo :(

Naven: Thanks. Ya I know, problem is i dont get demo models here for my ears to make the choice...i am in a small place

Gunbir: Whats your suggestion if I am looking at mid-bass and low with balanced high. I listen to Rahman, Hip Hop, Classical, and Instrumental like Blue Man group..

Small Update: Polk DB691 Marine Certified Speakers are available in Chennai for 4600 Rs MRP.

Can anyone check if Infinity Marine is available? The installer I goto doesnt deal with Infinity.

B&T: Thanks for that. Can you tell me which model is that?
