The whole process will need only 60-90min IMHO if one knows how to lock the door back in and where the screws are.

I had to set the -6dB setting ON on the filter as it was too bright for my taste. I am quite happy with the GTO 608C and it plays loud and clear than what I had previously.

I hope to DIY damp it and add the four channel amp I have later.
Congrats JK ..Fab job done.

I am interested to know where you have placed the crossover for 608c

I am hoping to take some ideas from yours before i tell my installer for the same

Not exactly, he is using the amp to drive his sub, its running off the head unit. The setup is nice, i like it. For me i would not ask for an upgrade anywhere near

Default Tata Safari 2.2L EX with JBL GTO 608C and Pioneer 6000F and JBL 1000B + Pioneer Mono

Another budget upgrade

What? Added a 4 channel Pioneer amp: GM-6000F

Where? eXtra Palace, Alapuzha

Why there? http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/sound-...-speakers.html

Why? Coz I already had the amp and 2 pair of Audison RCA

What else was needed ? Amplifier wiring kit from MTX.

Cost ? 1500Rs

+
  • I have more settings to play with ( Power IC switched off too)
  • Compos love amp power
  • Of course sound image improvement
  • Plays very loud without jarring ( rear OE speakers cry badly at high volume)
  • Front compos kick more bass
-
  • Tuning issues ( tough to get a sound stage setting to my liking )
  • Sub needs replacement to be in sync with the rest
  • Front compos became more bright thanks to Pio amp ( treble now at -5 from 0! )
I also check out
  1. MTX Thunder ( its a 12inch sub in ported enclosure)
  2. JBL GT5-1204BR
Verdict: MTX was just great ( it is costly at 16K). It was had SPL but with SQ ; when you compare with JBL GT5-1204BR. JBL GT5 sounded too boomy when compared with the punch the MTX gave.

The installer was Ravi ( who had worked on my Alto). MTX cost 1150RS MRP and hence I paid just 350Rs for the work !

Buying and fixing things up will never give a good Sound Quality. You need to have a good installer and a good tuner. I can confirm that there is none at Trivandrum who can install one neatly. The best installers are at Cochin and Emperor is one among them.

So, mine of course wasn't done by a great installer but by someone who had experience at fitting. He did a fair good job. I was happy at the extra juice the amp gave but was very very unhappy about overall sound quality.

It took me an an hour plus to tune the amp last week at my home. The sub is sync with front stage. The sub just so just dances well with the GTO608c and kicks just how I like. It does all this while staying invisible.

I am presently infected by Infected Mushroom ( IM the Supevisor track and End of the Road track ). The way the speakers go loud without any jarring makes my say to JBL608c.

pranava: thanks

Wow very nice install you got going there. Can you please give me the exact costs of the MTX sub ? and some specifications please. Looks good and I'm sure it sounds real good too.

MTX sub in the picture would cost you 16,000Rs IIRC.

jk to be precise its not an MTX kit, its a MiX local kit(please read carefully),the wire is not even a proper 8awg,instead you could have gone with the OE JBL 6awg kit or could have got a 4awg installed in loose wiring.

Found out eh

I too found out the folly when Muneem said it to me. Anyway, I have planned for a complete rewiring and damping
