Goodness Nitrous, you really are quick aren't you? lol

The GTO1214 is the new design super duper 1400W GTO 12" subwoofer from JBL. It is not yet out. I expect it will hit some shelves in major markets by August.

Indian customers will have it before most of the world does.

Well, in my case I have to travel across the world to buy the champagne and flowers lol. So my advice changed too.

I'm just trying to make this world a smaller place.

I'm anxiously waiting for the speaker grille pictures.
To me, the JBL's 507/607C grilles were the least fancy compared to the hot ones from Polk,Infinity, Hifonics, etc. The GT5 speaker grilles were better though.

guys can anyone confirm the availiblty of a 12 inch dual coil JBL woofer
is this availble in mumabi?
JBL Car & Marine Audio

also can the above be driven by
Kenwood Corporation | Car Electroics | Power Amplifiers | KAC-8401
i have a doubt since the specs dont say if it would be stable in bridged mode with a 2ohm load

i guess that kenwood 8401 can drive this sub but the performance will not be optimum. My personal opinion go for an amo that's little more powerful. Say a JBL 100.4 or monoamp.
The gurus can give you a better insight or someone who's driving JBL using 8401. BTW i too have the same amp, just waiting for the right sub

hmm ideally i would like a single coil 2 ohm 12 inch 250 rms rated sub.
i dont think you get those though

Also i think the power the 8401 would put in with all four channels bridged in a DVC sub would be sufficient . only would the amp be stable.
im guessing it would since kenwood has a blanket statement saying all their amps ae even 1 ohm stable

I might be wrong but the specs of JBL sub says:
Impedance : 1 or 4 Ohms depending on wiring

Kenwood 8401 amp can be bridged at 180x2 @ 4ohms and both the coils will run good ?

8401 is not stable @1 ohm as i was just reading the manual.

And magma 1202D is old Sub and i don't think its available anymore.

are the specs on these 608 similar to the p660 components? or theyre the old 607's with only the -6db option?
cause i think they resemble the p660's a little. or am i wrong

i thought that statement meant that since the sub is a dual 2 ohm then if both coils are placed in SERIES then it gives a 4 ohm load however in this condition(i am assuming it translates to a SINGLE voice coil) i would be able to use only 2 channels of a 4 channel amp correct. ( i.e supply only 180rms)

1ohm would be achieved by connecting both voice coils in parallel ( i assume)
gurus. now in this condition too translates to a single voice coil with a 1 ohm load correct? so basically i would require 2 channels of an amp(bridged) that can supply about 250rms at 1 ohm to drive this woofer well.

am i correct in the above assumptions or are there other wiring alternatives to drive such a sub? (i.e to drive it well using a 8401)

2) No. The 7 series have been completely discontinued.
Can you please tell me whether the 5-1/4" speakers are released in the 8 series. if they are request you to please share the specs. Do they too have the new crossover settings?

Not that way! If the effective impedance in parallel is 1 ohm and you want to drive it with a bridged 2-ch amp, the amp should be 0.5 ohm stable for each channel! 8401? Not! For that matter none of the conventional amps are.

What you would need is a mono which is 1 ohm stable.

My bad Magma you were right. I got confused. You can run by bridging 2 channels @180 W RMS and both coils will be powered.
