Default Illusion & JBL GTi Subs Discussion

Quote:
@bhagwan: I wasn't talking about subs in particular, rather just wanted to know what models from Illusion / JBL did my friend listen to before buying "bull".
Sir,

All Illusion Subs - Leccent + Carbon & All JBL Subs - 3 models I have heard have 'nothing' in common !

They are made for very different installations to be used by people what have a very different taste in music & have different amplification requirements....

LOL! B is you dont understand subs, tell who, in yor valued opinion, does!

B, there is nothing in common unless ofcourse you look at the paper specs.

their motor structure is different, the cone material is different, the basket material is different, the only thing I could see that is common is that both subs use rubber surrounds.

Ha Ha !
Nice one 'N'

Yes, I wonder how any person could compare the Illusion Sub with the JBL Sub ?
The Lightning Audio & JBL could be compared.
The Illusion could be compared to the MB Quart Sub or the Morel Sub - sure - there I could see 'common ground' !!!

Sirs I think he was talking about comparing the entry level subs from those brands.

If Illusion has their Carbon then JBL has their GTi. Which are again very different I agree. But at least don't compare entry level JBLs to Carbons.

I never knew Illusion made 'entry level' subs !! Does Illusion have Electra Subs ?
If so, then they may be compared to the JBL GTi.

But the Luccent & Carbons - not so sure......
The IA - Luccent & Carbons may just 'out-perform' products from JBL in the low frequency arena - HMO....

Sir, with due respect to you, I don't think the JBL wGTi subs could be compared with IA's entry level product in anyone's wildest dreams.

How are MB Quart Reference Series and Premium Line compared to ID, Illusion, Hertz, Morel ?

Considering common ground and not comparing IDmax with reference. Just in general.

There is no entry level subwoofer product from Illusion Audio, so I dont even know what comparison you are talking about.

I wouldn't know that. But I vaguely remember you posting somewhere that Elektra subs were coming (in response to someone's post asking for them). I could be wrong.

Besides, I was merely commenting on B's post wherein he said that if IA made an entry level sub it would be better compared to the wGTi subs.

Irrespective of whether it can indeed be compared or not, I dont understand how you can jump to conclusions about whether product A can be compared to product B or not. That too when you dont have the minutest inkling about one of them for sure, other one I dont know about. I hope all of your views and opinions about products are not based on such magical assumptions. You just formed an opinion about a product that does not even exist - no specs, nothing, forget having used it!

Bhagwan probably meant that it can be compared with the entry level GTO series, but typed GTi instead. And he said "may be" they could be compared, as opposed to your firm belief in the opposite.

Gentlemen - do pardon my ignorance - but is the JBL GTi sub an SPL sub ?
I was always under the impression that an IA sub was SQ !!

JBL W12GTi MkII Subwoofers

Yes sir, you are right. I must be a fool to suggest someone should not compare any entry level product under 200$ to another companies reference $600 product.

An apple doesn't fall far from the tree. Would anyone in their right mind compare any brand's entry level (150$) components to the JBL's reference 660GTi component set. If not, then why bother comparing the subs from the same two ranges. If that assumption seems too far fetched to you, then so be it.

Again, I dont know from where you gather that the Electra sub is "under 200$".. so once again for further clarity, PRODUCT DOES NOT EXIST!

Its the ideology more than what "may" be reality.
