While you are correct about the distribution channel, I'm not sure if they are as easily available as JBL amplifiers.
I sure am sir. The sub is really the part i am excited about. Though i'll be running it at 4 ohms. Ie 360 wrms. The rest stuff too would be really good.

Do you think it would be wise to get the 21'50 pioneer speakers from the Rear.

@ Abhinav - I would like to audition the system on your car. I got the oppotunity to audition LBM's ride and it was just out of this world

No 2150, get something better. I'll be more than happy to give you an audition. Drop your phone number by pm. We can coordinate.

The stegs would reject me.
Also a steg 4 channel would have costed me about 55k while i got both the mono as well as the 4 channel for the same amount.
Budget shortage yaar. Need to save up for the Stage 1 upgrade as well.

Thanks Dude.
Only the 4 ch is installed as of now.
The Mono is lying with me.
The Sub is not with me.
And the rest of the stuff too.
The install would take 3-4 days at least and would happen end june - 1st week of july.

@ Gurus, do i require a Stage 2 upgrade still when i would be giving only 360w to my mono and 85x4 to the 4 channel?

It might be.
I ain't sure though.
As it is the HPF/LPF is off from the Amp and set at the HU right now.
Will try to take it to figures between 63hz and 80hz which the HU cannot access.

Yesterday had the priveledge (ahh now its a privledge to audition another high end system) to auditon abhinav's new found love with the Harmon's (ahh not Harman Bawaja guys).

Had a detailed session listening to various kinds of music, one word for the system.

Its great, the speakers are just right on the low notes and carry high aswell, HK's had made them even more mind boggling.

The tuning is set at par with the speakers and they gell brilliantly to the overall front soundstage in the car.

Congrats Abhinav for working towards a good system.
Awaiting what more brilliance will you add to the existing one.

Cheers

A valid question.

The design philosophy of HK has always been to bring SQ to everybody and presenting it in a simple and uncomplicated way. The simple fact that everybody can basically tune an amplifier is the idea. The dots assist in some simple methods for regular people where you cannot go wrong.

I find that an educated first-timer can tune his amplifier better using these simple points than an uneducated installer.

It's like this:

Looks complex and most installers would guaranteed screw up the gain and crossover settings. Many enthusiasts here have no idea how to tune/set and amplifier.

The dot is the key

And so when you open the box you find a piece of paper that explains everything graphically.
Watch this:
How to set gains on the HK CA470

vRs(q)® Monster : Eclipse | Illusion Audio | Harman Kardon | Stereo Integrity-gain_l.jpg

vRs(q)® Monster : Eclipse | Illusion Audio | Harman Kardon | Stereo Integrity-gainset_l.jpg

And how to set crossover (the hardest part of them all for a novice - I am sure many sounds enthusiasts on the forum will agree with me)

vRs(q)® Monster : Eclipse | Illusion Audio | Harman Kardon | Stereo Integrity-crossover_l.jpg

vRs(q)® Monster : Eclipse | Illusion Audio | Harman Kardon | Stereo Integrity-crossoverset_l.jpg

See? SQ is for everybody. And amplifier setting can be done by anyone who can read and who has a little time. No need to be held ransom by the select few that claim to know how to TUNE an amplifier.

And that's truly what I love.

I KNEW you would bring that up, lol.
Crap, I have a certificate signed by Dr. Toole himself and I'm still not sure how to do the JBL SDEC without a manual.

My statement was regarding current Harman Kardon consumer products only, lol.

I was kidding. Thank you for understanding that. I am a bit nutty you know.

Sam even Dr. Toole (with all due respect) would need a manual to set up the SDEC. It is not something anyone can do without a manual.

1. Most users open a box ONLY to look at / drool over the physical unit
2. If they get their installation done at a shop, the first thing that gets ignored is the manual / instructions booklet, which gets thrown out at the earliest opportunity along with packing material + anything and everything the installer did not need (or reused from old stock, like screws etc.)
3. Most other users and advisors create the ultimate deterrent: too complex to understand for a common man, needs specialists. Most users actually willingly get themselves held for ransom
