Based on what parameters did you come to this conclusion?

I used the Alpine 9830 / Pioneer 7950 / Kenwood 6539 and now using the Alpine 9887.

The 7950 / 75.4 / LM 6.1 was very screechy at certain volumes.

Djnik congrats on the setup. I would suggest if you are happy with the setup than leave it as is. There really is no need to try out anything else if you are satisfied with the setup. More important is the tuning since you have a decent setup.

djnik, i suggest you stick with kenwood. of the systems I've heard from these brands ( kenwood 5039, pio 7950, 4050, alpine 9870 - and all of them with JBL GTO speakers), only alpine is better. kenwood and pioneer are about equal, with pioneer's having a lot more features, great availablity, great grey prices, but unfortunately some midrange coloration.

greenhorn could you elaborate on the extra features the Pioneer has compared to the kenwood.

The Kenwood 6539U is priced the same as the Pioneer 5090.

the lower priced pioneers ( 2050, 3050) have more features per buck than the cheap kenwoods. and then there is the steering wheel remote. grey market pioneers are available all over tvm, but we couldnt find one kenwood at a grey price. eventually my friend bought a 5039 for MRP from the dealer ( he promised a higher overall discount on the car in return) . I was talking about the grey prices, and their availablity at those prices. the MRP's may be the same.

ah ok. I recently got fitted for a few friends a pioneer 5090 in one car, a kenwood 5039U and a Kenwood 6539U. All purchased with B&W. The kenwood 6539U had much more features like individual LPF for the front and rear. Very useful if you front's are small 4" and rears are larger 6X9" that can handle more bass. 6539U had other great features as well but I don't remember all. I noticed that these were not present in the pio 5090 even though mrp was same.

I think even the 5039U has separate HPF for front and rear. In my opinion, the 6539U is the best sounding HU right now under 10K. The Kenwood 5039U in comparison doesn't even come close.
