Just to update the group- received my remote today in about two weeks of placing order on ebay.com. The packet escaped customs' lens and arrived in my office without any hassles or extra duty.

The product looks good and preliminary tests (programmed few buttons for my Alpine) yielded good results . I was able to switch on/of and up/down volume without any issues. The remote clicks nicely into the plastic holder on steering wheel, but, taking it off the holder is bit clumsy. I almost broke the clamp while taking it off the wheel to program remaining buttons.

More later.

Cheers,

-BJ

very happy to see a slew of MPR-999's coming on team-bhp. I am still happy with mine. MORE than happy with it. It works seamlessly with any remote you 'teach' it with. the possibilities are endless. cheers guys. enjoy the convenience!

Unfortunately I have very little use for mine since I swapped my Sony HU for the in thing clarion. Have sold it to a fellow BHPian. A very useful gadget it was.

Yeah, it does frank. But the problem is the clarion remote, it has very very few controls. Cannot browse folders. Very important one.

very true.. that is one of the VERY few drawbacks of an otherwise fantastic proposition.

Does not matter much anyway. I have my wife/son change the songs whenever I want.

OTOH, I could have retained it for use at home. It can control 3 different gadgets. Maybe TV/STB/DVD. I should have thought of that. It is so small & handy.

This remote actually learns from the remote that comes with the HU.

So Yes, till you have the remote, you can teach the MPR-999.

As shreyasma has put it, you need to have a remote for your HU first. If your Civic/Laura has one, then this will pair up quite beautifully.

Want to order it soon. Anyone from Pune ordering it in the coming days?

Btw, ebay has a TS-99 v/s. MPR-999. I hope it is the same thing.

And, can someone confirm if it fits well on Swift's steering wheel...
