IF that is expensive, somebody I know recently bought a Car HU for 1.2L. Now that is double the cost of your setup.

BTW What setup do you have?? I am sure all TBHPians would like to know the setup of the ICE Guru on TBHP.

You can do the TA by two ways.

1. Calculating the Distances.
2. Listening and Adjusting.

  • A. Calculating the distances

    Calculate the following distances

    1. Between You and the left mid bass = a
    2. Between You and the right mid bass = b
    3. Between you and the sub = c

Now, the sub will get 0 delay, because it is the furthest from you.

The delay for the left mid bass would be (c-a)

and the delay for the right mid bass would be (c-b)

  • B. Setting to it by listening.

    Give your subs 0 delay.
Bring your fader up front and the balance to the left.

Not gradually increase the distance and listen and stop at the point where you find the sound integrating properly with the sub.

Now bring the balance to the right and repeat.

What you will have is sub 0 delay, left mid bass at x delay and right mid bass at y delay where y>x
Hope it helps

Abhinav he has a HU which has TA done with distance but you have one with Time delay. So doing the one with distance would be a bit different.

Chiragh read the manual you will understand from it easliy it is in plain layman english or you have Abhibi by your side of the town.

LBM.. as far as i know, the first method is common for both. in fact Abhinav hasnt mentioned how to convert this distance to time in milliseconds. what is the difference between the distance and milliseconds method?

Frank.
Once you calculate the distance, take it into metres to convert it into time.

Delay for front mid would now be (c-a) meters / 340 metres/second =
(c-a)/340 seconds.

and similarly for right mid bass.

Convery it into miliseconds accordingly by multiplying 1000.

EDIT: Usually 340 is used but i guess the speed of sound is 343m/s so for more accurate result you may take 343m/s.

Also i feel that this method may not be always correct considering the speed of sound is 340 in free air but in a car, the sound has to travel with objections in between.
Legs for that matter.

Gurus ? Any Comments. Is this assumption true?

No Abhinav you were correct but the HU iinterface of Pioneer TA is of Distance and of Ecillpse is of Milliseconds. Thats why I said it. You are correct bro...
