For power cable RR is good. About 16 or 25 mm sq would be good enough for the job.

bhai wires already purchased.. chalo after days will buy something that you suggest !!

That you have told me earlier. I am not suggesting to buy it from me or anything like it. I am just saying go for some good speaker wires as it is necessary. Like I say for power finloex is good as it has no direct link to SQ till proper gauge is used. But since speaker wire comes directly in path it affects.

Note :- This is not a marketing post just wanted to share some thing.

Is damping done just to contain rattles ? I thought it was also done to avoid outside noise entering into the cabin. Even Abhinav has damping done on his vRS and mentions significant difference in sound levels.

You are right, but Abhinav got damping done after he upgraded his components. He mentioned his doors need damping because of the new components.

But yes damping helps in reducing road noise and there are other factors. But in swift its a must.

Damping's main feature is improving the ICE's sound quality.
Reduced road noise/rattles may be by-products.

I have 25 sq.ft of damping in my car. I still have rattles. The lack of road noise, I would credit most to the Michelin Energy tyres I use.

I'm telling this because I dont want you spending 5k on damping and realising you didnt get what you wanted out of it.

Yes it helps, When the car is properly damped the energy which is wasted to make the car panel vibrate is then helped in increasing the SPL. So more the damping better the result.

On the contrary it actually increases SQ since you dont hear irritating rattling noises. The only possible way spl might increase with damping is,if you damp the roof or the floor of the car. This is a big IF.Its not necessary that this will work.
I dont know how an absorbant material like a damping sheet will increase SPL since it will absorb the sound energy which was earlier leading to rattles in the body panel!!

It is not necessary that damping will reduce road noise.I have a fiat siena which doesnt have any damping and once all the windows are rolled up,there is minimal roadnoise or ambient noise, but if i drive Noidaboy's Swift which is heavily damped, road noise and traffic noise is more. The fact that both of us are using Yoko S-drives negates the effect of a difference in tyres.
I observed that the thickness of the glass in the windows and the windshield also makes a lot of difference. The swift has pretty thin side glass windows compared to the siena/palio,hence road noise etc is more apparent.

FAQs

This might help..

How Much bass increase can I expect to get with a Dynamat Trunk Kit?
While results vary from vehicle to vehicle and depend greatly on the installation, typical results have yielded a 3dB increase in Sound Pressure Level (SPL) bass output from a normal installation.
