Sir, VAT is paid at every step of the way at every sale. Not once.

It does not matter. You seem to be a fussy fellow and you have seen, chosen and approved a product that you have bought unofficially in cash and without a bill or warranty.

You have got an original piece at an excellent price and I am happy for you.

Never mind Sahil International, it also has JBL markings on it. Makes no difference. That sticker is not the warranty proof.

My point is - you bought from the grey market, you got what you wanted at a good price. Now don't expect the sun, moon and stars in service.

I wonder what would be their sale price if they are fairly used?

Not at all. It is your right to be both horrible and fussy.

It is my right to be completely humourous about it.

It's news to me that a product that has been imported through the proper channel ends up in 'Grey' Market.

Did JBL India or some authorized dealer have any consignment of amps stolen sometime after Aug 2007?

It happens sometimes that an official product is resold through the grey channel. No need to be so surprised. Sometimes the dealer selling it is not authorized to offer a warranty, sometimes he isn't even authorized to offer a bill (as he has no purchase bill) and sometimes he is not authorized to collect and pay VAT and sometimes he just doesn't want to pay tax.

The sale is less stressful, less is expected of him and best of all, the customer cannot sue him for anything as there is no proof of purchase.

Many Indian customer don't give a rat's derriere for service or buying experience, choosing to save as much short-sighted money as they can - which is why the grey market flourishes in India.
Not because grey dealers sell, but because we BUY.

That's the story of every city Techno.

The Priority Dealers are very expensive compared to normal retailers who sell phones with bill and warranty.
