My battery was disconnected for two days (while the FFE job was on). The Clarion still retained all its settings. Did not ask me for the speaker configuration either on reconnection. Can't comment on the clock though as it was not set up initially itself!

Isn't manual resetting done by removing +ve terminal or am I missing on something?

reading this thread, i feel the clarion 785 trumps the alpine 9887 in all aspects. lol.
PS: this is only when in passive mode, im sure the expensive 9887 comes into its own when in active mode.

Basic idea is to stop the current flow in the circuit. Does'nt matter if the resetting is done by removing the +ve or -ve terminal.

I wouldn't agree to that Frank.
I feel the Alpine 9887 is better than the Clarion 785 in terms of Sound Quality.

Personal Opinion. Don't bash me

yea yea, surely sound quality may be slightly better, but price-performance and price-sq, the clarion has it beat!

Price vs Performance, Price vs SQ is surely great.
I think the Eclipse CD5100 could have given it a run for its money if available with TA. It is/was available for around 200$

Yes it did & also it was back to its full color display, had tough time looking at it & getting the settings back(which was easy)

Frank & Abhinav - Like has been discussed earlier, the biggest advantage this HU has the whole lot of feature it provides at such a low price.

Its no perfect HU but surely a SQ HU for people on tight budget

In 2-way and 3-way mode, I think you can control phase of not only sub but each channel (pair).

Nopes the phase of the sub can not be controlled by the HU. It has to be changed manually.

Btw this was reported in the very first review by Nishant in this very thread.

You can invoke the speaker configuration anytime. Just press the 'OPTION' button anytime and enter the speaker setup menu.

Not possible on the HU. I have mentioned it before in this thread too. That was the only downside that the Great Hermit could find in this HU. Ofcourse that option is now circumvented for me as I have got MX Connector and can change the polarity of the sub at the enclosure end anytime.

Is it? But then you also need compatible speakers to configure your system that ways na? AFAIK, all wires are color coded and you cannot change speaker configuration on the fly just through the HU. It might damage your speakers.
