You meant it will trace all existing folders till leaf level, and list them instead of listing just contents of the current folder? and how many (roughly) directories are displayed at a time?
Yes, roughly 4 or 5 directories(not sure) are listed on screen but these can be very easily scrolled unlike the Clarion & if you want to go inside the folder just select that one & go inside. Most PIO's have a dial so scrolling is much easier than using the up/down button in the 785.

Nothing beats the clarity of an Audio CD IMO. You dont have to surf your way through numerous folders. All you got to do is pop the CD in and play it. Why need all the other stuff. ;-)

+10 to tjhat. Now you actually tend to get bored fast with that special song just because you can play it over & over again.

No, it would take just one back folder scroll.

If you are in a folder & push the Folder button down just once(back), it will play the first song

Oh we interepretaed that you want to listen to first track in the 70th folder.
If you mean from 70th folder to 1st folder then yes you will have to go through all the 68 if going backwards or when going forward whatever number of folder you have in between (e.g if there are 75 folders you will have to 5 forwards for 1st folder)

As for first song in same folder its by pressing menu button(keep it pressed) for few sec

you said you had 70 folders in your drive. From 1st folder to the 70th folder it is just a scroll backwards. If you have 150 folders & want to get to the first, just pull & hold the scroll switch a little longer.

For ~ $150, you can buy a Kenwood x693.
This Clarion HU has had a good run and its time to look further.
