I would go for Sony, i have it in my Santro right now and is working fine. Good sound quality whenever i go for upgrade lets see will opt for Sony only, their subs. are also of good quality.
Had Pioneer in my Fiat gave me so many problems.

I mix and match brands. Got a pioneer head unit with sony speakers and amp and a blau sub woofer. Not because i like it that way but its mostly because of my budget constraints

Very few companies can match Pioneer's sound and features at the price level it offers. Have been using different Pioneer HU's in my different cars for the last 8 years now. Right now I have an 8950.

But now, I think I am gonna change next to Alpine, its sound quality is superior.

Except for the HU and the cd changer, everything else in my car is non-Pioneer. Blaupunkt, MTX, Cerwin Vega and Premier (Pioneer's high end label) are in my car now.

blaupunkt it is. The sound is much better, and clear, plus it does not 'modify' the sound too much. Cna't explain it ... you have to listen to it to understand.

I haven't used anything other than the following combination so far (and since 2000)
SONY radio/tape player linked to 10 CD changer
Blaupunkt speakers, front and rear.

Used this in my 1999 Omni and simply transferred the whole thing to my Indica in 2003.

I voted for "Others" because I would like to change if and when I buy another car.

Simran im totally with you on the one about blaupunkt, they have a very amazing clarity to the sound they deliver, with the front and rear speakers in the right combination you actually get a feeling like sitting in a live concert (atleast in my car) like u rightly said they do not amplify or modify the sound output to an extent where there is mixing of frequencies.

it has to be a Sony - if you are tight with money, otherwise alpine and blaupunkt simply rock.

Hmmm... i find very few people using a JVC, why is that so?
Pioneer is good vfm with great sound and it's very common.
