i know the stock location for my Palio - but i want to know the size of speakers for the Doors & Rear Stock location.

if i want to put compos (6.5) on the doors - will it require any cutting-shutting? also will i be able to use the stock cover on the doors?

@Planet rocker,
As far as I remember, 6.5 in the front doors need a bit of carpentry.

the new indica vista has 5" locations on both front and rear doors, and 4" in dash.
fitting 6 inchers using spacers was unsucessful :(

thats horrible news. Are the speakers mounted onto the door panel like in the V2 or on the metal door frame as in other cars ?

^^ Maybe greenhorn means to say that the door panels wouldn't fit back on if 6" would be installed or the grill is smaller.

Default Installation Advice: Stock AND Custom Locations of Speakers in Cars sold in India

Before buying a new car, I have always wondered where I shall place the speakers for my audio system!

Having an archive here will help. I would recommend everyone to take pictures of stock speaker locations (door pads etc. ) and other custom locations they have used for their speakers, and post them here.
Work in progress pictures of speakers being fitted into their slots will be the 'ICE'ing on the cake :-)

This thread will help in making it easy for someone who is planning his ICE in a new car, like, say the Swift, or the Honda Accord, before he starts zeroing in on his equipment, and makes the folly of choosing something undersized, or oversized for that spot. Also, everyone doesn't have the advantage and good luck of going to a top notch installer, who will know the exact nuances of the car, and how each speaker will behave in a particular location.
This thread is for good planning, and a visualization of how speakers will be fitted onto the car.
It is also a primer for someone who likes to keep the stock look of the car, or go mad and modify his panels to accomodate his speakers!

Might go a slightly longer way, helping everyone in making their car a better sounding place

Let me start with my Maruti Esteem:
  • The silver material on the doors is damping.
  • The subwoofer is placed in the boot.
  • Some cutting of sheet metal and door pad material has been done to accomodate the 6.5 inch drivers in the doors and 6*9 inch drivers on the rear parcel shelf (itself replaced by a strong MDF board)

from those threads , it seems the linea takes 6.5" ers from the front and back.

I've aslo recieved news of sucessful installation of 6.5" ers in the vista , but with a bit of cutting and shutting the inside of the door panels and using two rings. the stock look is retained from the outside though
