@amit_mechengg
Awesome setup in your car dude! Built to perfection.

@abhibh
Well I just came back after a quick visit to the shop.
Kenwood 8401 is not available anymore. I've been recommended Kenwood 845 for 6.5k with B&W. Is is in the same league as 8401 or should I prefer JBL S644?

For the sub-woofer, I told the dealer that am looking for good low bass in the car and not boom-boom outside, so he recommended a 10 inch Polk sub over JBL CS1205. Will that be a better choice? What should be the price of a Polk sub in grey?

As for the head-unit, am also getting Kenwood 5539 for 6k. Its a good set with two RCA which will surely solve my purpose for now (as my next ICE upgrade would be in a new car another year down the line)

Still open for suggestions guys, planning to get the ICE install tomorrow.

Yes 8401 and 6539 are discontinued and hard to find.

Polk sub is nice. JBL are boomy. NO idea about the cost. Depends upon model etc.

5539 is a good choice. You can get it without Bill for around 5k.

Regarding AMP why not Balu MKII ? I have not yet even seen the new S664 so can't comment. Have auditioned 845 in jsrakkar car and it was nice. It was powering Infinity Reference series components and coax.

This is my suggestion...

Head : Pionner 5090/ 5150 Kenwood 6539 ( try your luck )/ 5539
Amp : Blaupunkt MKII or JBL 1004 ( get this one man)
Sub : Pioneer Sub with correct wiring as it has 2 coils in sealed box !!

Polks are good but little expesive , last i heard was like 7k for 12 inch db series sub

845 is ok amp , nothing great about it ( no hard feelings ), its ok to power compos with that but not a sub !!

Thanks guys.

After so much of research, I finally went for the install today. Had chiragh for company who was so damn exited for his install too. (That 15" Velocity sub was massive dude!)

Reached the shop around noon, and spent around couple of hours deciding on the final config.

The ICE setup.

HU - Kenwood 5539 (6539 wasn't available)
Amp - Kenwood 845 (after lots of discussions on features, settings, just went for it, Blau MKII not available here)
Rear - Polk db690
Sub - Tested JBL CS1205 and a Blaupunkt 12" sub
Front - Illusion Audio EL4.1

Tested a few tracks to check the amp and sub but none of the Subs went low enough for my taste. (one track was Dil Cheez by Bally Sagoo). Found out that the culprit was the round ported box which made the bass sound boomy/kicky (if that's a correct word).

So I'll get a sealed enclosure made in a few days time and will test both the subs. If I get the desired sound, well n good, otherwise planning to go for the Polk sub.

Any other reccos for the sub?
Listening Preference: Moderate Volume (SQ in car) and bass that goes low (again moderate volume).

Cheers,

Here are a few pics of the Illusion components. Will post some more when I get home.
Am I mistaken here or are the holes and connecters mismatched in one of the components?

You've got an eye for details bro!

I opened the crossovers plates for a quick examination and I guess I accidentally placed one of the plates upside down.

Well guys, finally, after multiple iterations on the sub-woofer and the sub-woofer box, the ICE is complete for my ride.
Will be posting pics and review the Showoff section very soon!

The ICE setup

HU - Kenwood 5539
Amp - Kenwood 845
Rear - Polk db690 (awesome pair of speakers these)
Sub - Blaupunkt GTw 1200 (200W RMS - this gels up perfectly with the amp which feeds 180W bridged)
Front - Illusion Audio EL4.1 (just love the sound)
Box - MDF sealed (~45 litres, Blaupunkt recommends 44 litres)

Spent lots of time tuning the system to my taste and feels great to have achieved the desired sound!

Just a quick question on the Kenwood HU and remote, I can't seem to forward any track using the remote, it just switches to the next track? Any way around for this.

Thanks everyone! Learnt lots of information in the process of configuring the ICE for my car.

There is no way around that kenwood just misses out on a few simpler things at times.
