Default HU for Fiesta

Hello Guys

Here is the need for me to ICE my Fiesta.
Ford had given a Kenwood MP5036 factory fitted 1 DIN mp3 player along with my Fiesta 1.6 limited edition Zxi.
When i left my vehicle for its routine service, i unslotted the front panel and travelled back in a auto. Got down from the auto, paid the driver and i went in. The autodriver never bothered to return it back, not that i expect him to!
I realise that getting only the front panel is not easy and have already made up my mind to go for a new HU.

My criteria are as below:
1. Need a 2 DIN system --- for improved dash looks & dont wanna see a DIN sized opening in the dash.
2. I am looking for a system which plays crystal clear soft music/classical/Instrumental . I dont hear to Rock.
3. I-pod connectivity, USB, MP3
4. If u guys can suggest a system with casette player also, then it brings my collection of 300 casette tapes back to life
5. Price -- Ready till 15 k.

My ground work:
1. Kenwood DPX MP5110 U

Kindly give suggestions on the same.

Regards,
Pramod

You seem to be quite lucky.

Usually Single Dins in the same price range sound much better than double dins.

Again,
Relative... 1 DIN may be good as you say. But as i have already made it clear, i need a 2 DIN only
I am sure 2 DINs are not as bad as some memebers here are making it feel.

No, a 1DIN does not sound better than a 2DIN. Pount for pound, a 2DIN is costlier than a 1DIN with the same features - that's all.

The Kenwood you selected will do what you want, other than the cassette part.

There used to be some ACD+Cassette 2DIN units, but it is highly unlikely you will find one in India (you could check in the shops on Lalbagh/Mission/JC Road for a left over or second hand one).

If you REALLY want to bring back your cassettes, buy a new 1DIN and an old 1DIN cassette unit, and put them in the 2DIN slot together. Feed the cassette pre-out (there was always one at least) to the other HU's Aux-in, and you are good to go.

@pramod, some models of the the NHC used to come with an Alpine 2-DIN (Cassette + CD) system as OE. A lot of folks used to swap these units for other HUs and leave the 2-DIN unit at the installer's.

If you look around in the Car-Accessory shops, you might find one, and that too for cheap. The Alpine unit was a nice sounding unit (with aftermarket speakers) and I've seen it fitted in quite a few Vernas. I have not yet seen it fitted in a Fiesta.

Thanks for the responses.

1. Went to Burma Bazaar in Bangalore yest and found that i can get a Kenwood DPX MP5110 U 2 DIN for Rs.8600
2. And Pioneer P6050 UB 2 DIN for Rs.8400
These 2 prices are just for Info. Not planning to buy there for sure.

I need to decide a HU among these 2. Will get it this weekend.

Can u guys suggest a few places where i can find a good deal in Bangalore? (either grey or with B/W)

Not much difference in buying from National Market or from Mission/JC/EastEnd/Koramangala - all of them will sell without warranty. The Pio 6050 is a good unit too.
