Thanks Shaju. Hehehe. NO lotto. Just a few savings. LOL..

Anyways, in an unexpected turn of events, my car install began today.
We are doing it in stages, though. Damping of the doors and the boot was completed. Both have been heavily damped.
Thus, we are done with the sound deadening part.
Next up, the subwoofer enclosure, and the tweeter pods are going to be made soon.
Waiting for my set of components to arrive tomorrow, after which work will be done without any delays.
Some photos. I apologize for bad quality in some photos as I didn't have my camera with me that time

Congrats on the Amp, looks cool. That's really some damping. Did you got the inner side of the doors damped too (plastic side) or just the outerside which is the metal part one?

I have damped ALL possible surfaces. All that were visible, and accessible by the human hand ;-)
Inner side of the doors, outer portion of inner sides, door pads and all surfaces of the boot!

It would be very useful if you could pen down a report on the Vitamin C used on each thing, quantity of noise kill, time taken for specific things, stock speaker sizes of the pillar, doors and rear. Let it be not only a show off thread, but also one filled with informations and guidelines !

you mean vitamin M right? I am not in a position to share how much all the equipment has set me back by this time till I do all the accounts. But I am dead sure that we are talking more than 1/4th the cost of the car FOR SURE.

About the information. Ask and I shall answer.

Here goes,
Quote:
quantity of noise kill
i have used about 20 sq feet of noisekill on the doors and the boot.

Quote:
time taken for specific things
it took about 3-4 hours to damp the doors and boot. Not too much time since we had a champion working on them. He is the ONLY labourer who doesn't raise my blood pressure every time he works. Knock on wood!

Quote:
stock speaker sizes of the pillar
you mean stock speaker size of the sail panel right? the sail panel can accommodate 20-25 mm tweeters only. Small for my large ring radiator, hence pods will be made for them.

the stock door sizes accommodate 5*7 inch speakers, but worry not, you can put 6.5 inches with a spacer and slight metal cutting.

I can understand your's too. LOL

Ok guys. The short gap was because I couldn't gather my breath to write. As I was typing this thread, something arrived in the mail. And I am SUPER excited. This is the last part of my equipment that was expected to arrive, and I am happy to post pictures of the same.

First, a few words about the Alpine SPX-17PRO

The box was a HUMONGOMAGNANIMOUS one! Larger than the box that came with my 12" luccent subwoofer. And WAY heavier. All this for a set of 6.5" components!

Opening the box took me by surprise. I have never seen such wonderful packaging of equipment. It makes one really really excited to unravel layer after layer of thermocol to see what's below.

As for the speakers themselves, the midbass was EXACTLY like I pictured it would be. Solid, chunky, heavy and makes one feel great, holding them in the hands.

There was one more thing insides that I wasn't prepared to see, and shocked my totally. That was the HUGE crossover. These babies are larger, much larger than I expected, and I am dead sure there isn't a heavier crossover that has graced my hands. Look at the pics below to see how big the crossover is, as compared to a normal mobile phone and you will have an idea about its size.

The tweeter looks like nice and solid, and has good, hardy connectors. The ring radiators are not going to fit in my sail panels though.

Details:
  • component speaker system includes 2 woofers, 2 tweeters, and 2 crossovers
  • 6-3/4" hybrid glass fiber woofer with Natural Butyl Rubber Multi-Roll surround
  • 1-1/4" ring-radiator tweeter
  • 2-way external crossover network with 4-level tweeter control and 6 phase link modules
  • 4-ohm impedance
  • power range: 8-100 watts RMS (300 watts peak power)
  • frequency response: 35-60,000 Hz
  • sensitivity: 88 dB
  • top-mount depth: 2-9/16"
  • includes 5"x7" and 6"x8" mounting plates
  • warranty: 1 year
And now, the pornography.

PANT,PANT. This is the most well built component in my setup!

Hey Frank that is so delicious set of speakers here. They look beautiful. The mid woofers are so well built. The quality is top notch. I am also going to order these in coming days.

Gurus,

Will they fit into swift doors?

Uh, make that about 65 sq. ft. I asked Shafiq how much he had used and he said all 20 "feet". That is the length cut from the roll. The width of the roll is 1m. You do the math.
