little OT
Im currently on a 1700km road trip. in davanagere right now. the i10's system stopped working when i started from aldur on monday morning, but it started on its own after 2hrs during the journey.
yesterday night, again it stopped working when i went for a round in the city. it is still not working. im off to pune tonight or tomm night and if the system doesnt work, the 560km drive will be a torture.

this prob occured a few days back too. it comes to life on its own.
what could be the reason?

loose connections (pretty similar to the ones in my head). check speaker wires. something is touching the body of the car and creating a short and the stero is protectiting itself.

hmm.. the i10's system, when not in use (as in off) displays the time on the screen. even thats not working. that means the supply to the system unit is being hampered. i shall try searchin for a shop in this small town, else shall get it checked once back in pune

We are getting a new Getz and the speakers are some local "BPL" speakers supposedly.

The salesman was very insistent that the HU is very very good. It is a Panasonic CQ 1505.

Now, could the gurus here suggest a basic setup ? Clarity is more important than thundering bass given the fact that it's my mom's car and she listens only to Hindi music ?

As cheap as possible, but decent clarity.

The sales guy was suggesting some JBL speakers.

Could you guys help out with the amp, sub and speakers ?

If price is a concern & you want all the three I suggest the following:

JBL GT5 comps at front
Sony 4 channel amp
Sony sub or any equivalent which fits the budget

EDIT: Does this HU have enough pre-outs ?

pre-outs are the connectors to different equipment like amp, coaxials, comps etc. Same thing like " number of USB slots on your tv or laptop"

I'll try posting the link to the product from Panasonic's official site.

EDIT: This is it.

Can someone see it and help me ?

I dont have the model nos for the sub off hand, the amp is 554ZR. you can go for either a 10inch or a 12 inch sub as per price & taste

Gurus any idea why every ICE shop is recommending Pioneer over other brands. Is it because grey is much easily available with Pioneer?
I have a requirement of b&w. Which ones the best Bluapunkt, Pioneer, JVC. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Just refreshing - i have got a new swift ddis and listen to mostly Rock. Even listen to Dance numbers(hindi also) and casually hip hop.

its just not because pio are available in grey. pio are pioneers in car entertainment systems. they have good versatility and good functions as well as quality to match other ICE components. also their spares are available easily. blau is also a good brand. i had a JVC earlier. absolutely no issues over it. nice quality.

If we have to chose from say Pioneer, Blaupunkt and JVC which one to go for. And again if the suggestion is Pioneer then i really need to know why not Blaupunkt, JVC. If thats the case then other manufacturers would close down their shops.

This query of mine would really not be worth but i want to know and differentiate why Pioneer stands apart from Blaupunkt, JVC, Kenwood. As this will really help me be convinced to buy that particular brand HU. Whenever i ask a ICE shop which would he recommend they say

"Arey sab Pioneer le lo sab wohi bethate hai"
why?
"usme koye problem nahi hai"
how would be blaupunkt, jvc or kenwood?
"bluapunkt, jvc to aacha hai par Pioneer jyada chalta hai"
"Kenwood jyada nahi chalta"

Now the only thing technical i could extract from them was that Pioneer HUs have HPF/LPF which is required for Tweeter/Sub configurations respectively and its ideally present in amps, if i am not wrong.(please correct me if wrong).

I might sound more inclined towards blaupunkt but then even they are pioneers in car audio. I am not sure about JVC and kenwood.
