I like the Infinity Reference 6030CS. But if the dealer has both, why not ask for a demo and decide.

Since i didnt receive the feedback in time and i was itching to get the comps installed, i headed this morning to pavan electronics and mulled over these 2 brands and since no demo was possible just looking at the specs and size of the crossovers ( JBL has teeny weeny ones and Infy's were nicely sized and good built quality), i decided on the Infinity comps 6030CS though had to really convince myself that they are good investment ( even if not appreciating one)

Oh Boy! did it change the entire set-up. The power is mindblowing and sound is crystal clear and the punch is so good it can knock down a couple of horses. ( however, they are just a tad bright but i toned them down with some HU settings by setting the graphic equalizer of high frequency to lower setting).

Problem in Hyd is nobody understand the amp tuning and gain controls and i had to sit with installer personally to help him tune it to my taste after playing over 20 songs ranging from hip hop to classic rock

After a bit of negotiation, it costed me. Rs.7,600. Is this a reasonable price? or was i fleeced? Appreciate someone's comment on the pricing.

I am loving it !!!

Thanks, unfortunately i haven't taken any pics while the installation was taking place barring a single cam pic of the Infy box as the weather out here yesterday was terribly hot and they took 4 hours to install my comps and by time they finished i was feeling like a roasted turkey.

However, will post some pics of the tweeters which were installed on the door pads after cutting into them ( that's the only portion that is visible) soon

I have not heard the new 6030 but if it similar to the 6020 in balance I'd prefer it to the JBL GTO.

I think they may be similar. I actually havent heard to 6020.
Even the 6030, i didnt hear it fullly. It was just a 2-3min session in someone's car who had come to an installer for some tuning. Felt it was good for my liking

Thanks for the re-confirmation. I am really liking the sound a lot. It is clear, precise, punchy and powerful.

Like i said before it is just a wee bit bright which i am confident can be tweaked with some changes to graphic equalizers and amp control.

Hey congrats there Avi, Need a dekho ASAP.

Regarding the tuning part of it, why don't you ping Arun? He may be able to do it for you if he gets down from his Towers.

Smile Blaupunkt QL690 and 4-Way Quadaxial Speakers

Hello ICE Gurus,

Starting this thread as I was not able to find any info on this particular model or much on 'Quadaxial' or 4-way Speaker systems.

So, my 4 year old Accent was running on JVC HU and Front & Rear coaxials till last September (2014) when I wanted a better HU with Bluetooth and USB capability (Yes, the JVC HU was a basic one w/ only CD/AUX/Radio capability). Hence landed up here, did some research and decided upon Blaupunkt Toronto 420 BT. Got the same installed at Sachin's Autoshop (Koramangala, BLR) and decided to keep the speakers intact as they were still performing quite okay (I was mostly listening to pop, blues and classic & "non-heavy" rock).

6 months down the line, a couple of buddies and me started a rock band and I got hooked on to "heavier" genres - (Dream Theater, Breaking Benjamin, LP and stuff) and playing them on ,y 'ol speakers, sound starts to crack. Hence, another upgrade is on my Soon-To-Do list.

Currently, I am thinking of a front Component system along with a rear 6x9" speakers. I came across this product a few days back (suggested by Sachin) - Blaupunkt QL690 which is supposedly a Quad-axial system. Now, am a bit confused - Is does this 4-way thingy actually work (read: are they better than 6x9 coaxials or 6x9 3-ways)? Hence I came up with these combinations:

Blaupunkt:

QL 690 (6x9 4-way coaxials) for Rear;
VC 652 (Velocity series) (2-way components) for Front

Disadvantage: No crossover?

Kicker:

CS 6934 - (6x9 3-way Coaxials) for Rear
ES65.2 - 6.5 Inch Component Speaker System for Front

Polk Audio:

DB 691 - (6x9 3-way Coaxials) for Rear
DB 6501 - 6.5 Inch Component Speaker System for Front

Which is the best? Any other options within 10-12k?

I do not want to installs any Subs as I am not ready to compromise boot space, hence not listing any amps. However, would see if any damping is required for the front doors.

The picture on the snapdeal page is misleading. Velocity series comes with crossovers - check on Blaupunkt site.

There is no 'best', as perceptions and preferences differ for different people. Listen to each of them if you can - your ears will tell you whether you like a particular sound signature or not.

There are a lot of other brands: Morel, Bull, Rainbow, Infinity, JBL, RF, Boston etc. First visit some installers / dealers and listen to whatever they have. If you like a particular brand / model, search online. If you find the exact model cheaper on the net, buy it and get it installed. Sometimes brick & mortar shops offer a better price, so double-check before buying.
