hahaha
I knew that it would be a carpc after you talked about the FLAC.

All the best with your project buddy. Let me know if you need any help with IR receiver if you want to control your PC thru any remote.

I have it working with me, its a small DIY and I use my pioneer steering remote to change the songs and volume up and down and etc.

Thank you Monty. I already have a slightly different plan worked out for the remote control. Will elaborate on it in some time.
I am just waiting for all the things to arrive from the USA. Once that falls into place, then these smaller details can be looked into and the ancillaries can be purchased.

Till then, I am going to furnish some details on the project. Waiting for the final few decisions.

Sorry for the laggard behaviour when it comes to updates, but the carputer was up and running (quite well) when suddenly I had an issue where the carputer just shut down on it's own accord.
I had some personal stuff going on in life, hence I didn't bother much. I am now back on the scene and will troubleshoot this issue soon.

PS:MAJOR equipment overhaul in the offing (as is evident from the mandatory classified advertisements). Trust me, you WANT to stay glued on to this space.

Frank - can you provide a quick review of the GPS receiver?

A friend wants to buy it to be used as an attachment to his Netbook, which he always carries. I dont know whether that kind of setup is workable though?

Hi Nishant. The GPS receiver works just fine. Just make sure the person who uses his laptop with the receiver can face the GPS skywards (without obstruction) at all times. That's all he needs.
Otherwise, the receiver is BULLETPROOF. The BU353 receiver is the best and has the best internals.

B&T I suspect Frank will BUILD himself a wife not unlike this facebook version.

Building A Beautiful Wife - Company | Facebook

Frank was often lonely, so he set his mind to think
about the source of this malady; a solution for his 'kink'

There was somehow, something, wrong somewhere, every night alone in bed
Seeds of desperation, were growing in his 'head'

In a flash of inspiration he thought about Intel,
100 TBs of affection and two Tera-FLOPS would ring his bell

Then by lucky chance he saw, the Asus Xonar D2X
And while 'she' looked unusual, 'she' also promised sex

"Experience something different, Asus's new imported toy,
She's loving, warm, programmable; a guarantee of joy"

She came all wrapped in cardboard, with all her jumpers set
A tweeezer was all she needed, and Frank, he got so wet.

He took her to the bedroom, and booted her to life,
and a just a moment later, that girl became his wife

Now he sits her in the corner and sometimes strokes her RAM
And when he's feeling naughty he makes believe he's a man

Frank's life is now different, since 'Sally' came his way
He boots her in the morning, so he and Sally can play

She's everything they say she was, Frank wears a permanent grin,
His only cause of worry is Gigabyte's U5 PIN!

- sung to the tune of "Be My Girl" - Police.

Frank, So sorry. I hope you are not mad about the inane garbage above. It is all in jest.

Sometimes the lyrics just flow. I dont think, the fingers are in gear before the brain is engaged.

You'll are all losing your marbles ;-)
That was funny though!!

There are 4 HUGE upgrades in the pipeline. Mission 1 and 2 have been accomplished. Now to procure the third thing.

It's going to be quite MAD.

You are sticking 'Sally' into your car and you believe "WE" are loosing our marbles?

Frankie, not in this lifetime will I ever be able compete with you or LBM. Here BTW is another "Sally" song.

and Frankie said "I can't find nothing wrong with being friends or sticking her in my car"
and She said "if you can't find nothing wrong with your head you'd better find something wrong with her"
So Frank began to explain ahh... that it wasn't just ahh.. what she thought
He'd better find something to do with his time, the fact is he's just been caught

Sneaking 'Sally' through the alley, sneaking 'Sally' through the alley
Trying to get away clean
Sneaking 'Sally' through the alley, when up pops the queen!!!

- with apologies to Robert Palmer (Sneaking Sally though the Alley).
