Default Re-Iceing my Estilo,Need Help!!

The Installed ICE Components are as follows.

CDX-GT470U Headunit

Rear Speakers XS-6942A

Front Speakers XS-GTF16252

Subwoofer XS-L124p5

Amplifier XS-ZR6022 (2 channel)

Everything is Sony.(I know what's everyones reply )

Wiring is Monster Cables.

I'm really fustrated, it's been over a year and a half using Sony (I think this amount of punishment is enough).

I'm thinking of a step by step upgrade (Max Total Budget is 15K )

The headunit has already starting skippin disc's.

Please guys help me out of this.

With a budget of 15K just change your front speakers and subwoofer. As you now know there are many brands better than Sony esp. when it comes to speakers.

Seeing that you are having problems with your HU i would suggest the first thing you should upgrade to is a Kenwood/pioneer HU(6-8k)
Next upgrade for you should be a front components from jbl/illusion/infinity/GZ(6-8K)
rest can be upgraded as and when required.

Which headunit?
I asked a couple of dealers at Milan Subway and the exchange price of my headunit is 2k.

I liked the Pioneer 5050, will you guys suggest me to go for it??

The 5050 is a pretty old unit. You should be looking at 5190UB
Similar HU's from Kenwood are 6039 & 6539, IMO better than pioneer but availability can be a problem.

Another option you can look at is getting a HU with two pre-outs keeping in mind that you would never upgrade to a mono and a four channel amp in future as this would require a 3 pre-out HU.
The HU's with two pre-uts that you should be considering are-
Kenwood 5539
Kenwood 5039
Pioneer 4190
Pioneer 3190

Hey DJnik,

I am a bit confused.
The current woofer and the amp I have, has no effect on the output until the headunit is kept at about 50% volume.(15-18 out of 34).
I won't mind a 2 pre-out unit but can it give a better effect than my current setup??
Also i've noticed that the subwoofer hardly produces enough boom(mostly its the 6x9).
I am looking for a SQ setup with tight bass(if possible).

Can you tell me the cost of the kenwood headunit?

It seems the tuning on the amp is not done properly however what kind of enclosure do you have for the sub?

AFAIK its a sealed enclosure, but the amp is underpowered(according to my uncle).

First the sub was on the parcel tray but now its in an enclosure.

You're on a tight budget and you arent thinking of getting a 4 channel amp then i would say go for the 5539(5-6k).

The options for front speakers are-
JBL GT5-s265c @(4-5k)
Illusion 6.1(7k)

More speakers from polk, hertz etc are available, try and get a audition and decide.
You can even change the sub to Jbl Cs125 @ 4k.

Thus if you do the breakup like this you can squeeze in three things in 15k and your system would certainly sound a lot better.

But can my Sony 2 channel amp power the JBL sub??

I am throwing away the rear speakers as its not advisable here.(so from the 2 pre outs the rear will go to the sub)
I will also be getting some discounts on exchanging the currently installed ICE parts.

Is the cost of the Kenwood with B&W or without?

If your total budget for ALL steps is 15k, then you buy a HU for 5-6k (with 2 or 3 preouts) and front components (5-6k). Check if you need to replace wiring, else the remaining 2-3k can be safely invested in a subwoofer.

The trick is to stick to these budgets, or else be prepared to increase your overall budget.

If it's cheap, go for it. Also try to listen to a Kenwood in the same price band and see how it goes.

Do you mean you don't hear any bass until you keep your HU at 50% volume? Did you check your amp gains?

Not sure what's your definition of SQ is, but many people here struggle to find SQ even with 50k-worth of components! Generally, an SQ setup with tight bass will blow your entire budget for just the subwoofer.

Could be possible that your sub is designed for best performance on a tray (called an IB-suited sub). If possible- can you post links to the exact components you have on any website (crutchfield, sony, sonicelectronix etc.?)

There is no bass,no thump until the vol is at 50%
Keeping the fader at front causes the front speakers to almost distort when the sub can be heard.

I have never fooled around with my amp.

This is the sub i have Archived XS-L124P5 : Subwoofer : Xplod™ Speakers / Subwoofer : Sony India

and the Amp is XM-ZR6022 : Xplod™ Amplifier : In-Car Entertainment : Sony India .

Can my amp power the JBL or the current one.

Your amp can provide 130w RMS at bridged, you can surely get a JBL sub but the trick would be a well designed and a well built box.I would suggest you to get in touch with some good installers in your city which would solve all your problems.

Hoo boy this is bad shites! I always thought Sony was awful, but the monstrosity of their awfulness just dawned upon me after looking at their 'car audio brochure'!

Adi, I'd seriously recommend you to start a step-by-step process to 'junk' all of your components! Even a Pioneer HU + JBL coaxes would sound much better it appears.

I'm checking the prices of the HU's tomorrow. What brands should I be on the lookout for?
Also, what should my new set up be like?(Hu+Comps+Amp+Sub)

Note: If a complete overhaul is advisable, I'm ready to throw out the trash. []
