ntomer, this is exactly what I have in mind. Use the 4 channel amp for teh front and rear speakers and use an active sub forthe bass.

The true rms power output of your HU is in the range of about 10W rms per channel. It might even be much less. Besides due to restrictions of space inside a HU (you gotta fit a CD player, tuner, switching system, EQ, etc....) these amps dont have room to breathe and eventually litlerally run out of breath. The music will sound so.

I am a big fan of HU where there is no power amp whatsoever (I own 1) or where the power amp can be switched of (most Alpines).

While it is true that bass has a lot more energy and requires more power than the mids or highs even the mids and high will benefit from an external amplifer. By using 2 amplfiers !(4 channel and the amp of your active sub) you are serving the needs of all your speakers.

[quote=navin;106131]There are a lot of questions on What Stereo to get etc....here are some rules that will help narrow things....many thanks to Aseem, Sam, Vivek et. al (alphabetically).

a) Budget under 20K.
Spend half on a good HU. A Sony with Bill and warranty will work fine. JVC, Pioneer and Kenwood are other options but Pioneer does NOT have a authorised dealer in India

But pls check this web u

Pioneer Homepage

It has one in bangalore as well.
do u think its fake?

some time back the 9830 were selling at 6K a pop. This was when Skoda was supplying them with their Octavia vRS and many people would remove them and discard them. Dealers were paying these car owners 2-3K per HU and re-selling them at 6-7K to the public. My guess is dealers made fatter margins on this Hu than on any new (similarly priced) HU they sold.

The 9847 is about 14K but the 9843 is a good alternate to it if you can get it. Alpine has discontinued it, I think.

Last saturday for another member's Swift we got a 9846 off a Skoda for 5k! Not bad considering the other option in that price range was the Pioneer 2950.

On kicker.com they have the name & contact for India.

The accessory shop guy told me that these only available now & he had a brochure too which was new. He also had a few new information booklets on kicker & he highly recommended these.
