What i have observed is that when the Pre amp is good , the sound is better on the setup mentioned int he review . i Phone certainly improves the quality .

The other thing we need to keep in mind while using MP3 is use 320KBPS songs . This certainly takes a big difference compared to a 128 KBPS based MP3 song .

I added one Chinese adapter for my JVC, it worked well for a week, then audio started blasting suddenly - it happened frequently. So removed it and the steering control is not working anymore, Need to find another one. now. I miss the controls very much.

@Ranga, I own a Scorpio LX that was delivered recently. I am in the process of selecting an ICE that can go into it. I was looking at the VLX sytle 2 din set up in mine as well.

Do we get the 2 din faceplate set separately in the market that I can attach to a single din player. If yes any idea of what the cost would be.

I am also considering the Pioneer 6050. How is the HU in terms of performance. I am not an audiophile and I listen mostly to Indian, soft and fast rock music. Country music is also included.

I am thiking on the lower model range of JBL speakers 6" for the rear and 3" for the front. What say

diwakar I would say that you get a good HU and a double DIN doesn't really matter. You can always use the lower half for keeping your CD's. Invest in a good set of components for the front .

There is not much you can do on the center doors since they don't have a provision for installing speakers there. Wonder what Mahindra was thinking when they made the door panels.

The last door could be used to install 6x9 3 way speakers. Are you considering a subwoofer with an amp' setup or just the basic ICE setup ?

I agree to diwakar's suggestion on investing in good components . Same time if u have a double DIN , it gives a clear look for ur HU. I have a friend who uses a single one and it doesn't look that great. He uses this place to keep the ipod .

Amp & Speakers seem fine but no point in having them with a Sony HU, it will spoil the party.
It would be better if you can mention the model of pioneer HU.

There are lot of good Touch user based Amps available . Please select one compared to a single DIN Sony . JVC , Pioneer can be good choice . Check the Sub u buy before as some times , it might be to much of bass with no room left for vocals .

I agree to this, keep away from Sony, look for pioneer, kenwood, alpine etc. If you have buget constraint I suggest to do it in multiple phases rather than compromising on quality of components.

Hello Ranga & other experts ,

I have a scorpio 2.6 Turbo (2004 model).. I have the below setup on it:

- Sony xplod headUnit (dont know the model)
- Pioneer tweeters
- OEM front speakers
- Sony Oval Speakers at Rear fitted on the boot door
- Sony xplod subwoofer
- Sony Amplifier which is powering the sub + tweeters

This setup was done when we bought the vehicle only. At that time was not very much aware of the sound quality etc as driving a new Scorpio had over-ruled it.

However, now that I am back to bangalore after my 4 yrs stay at UK, I am driving it daily. I feel the sound quality is bad.

Things I have noted:
- Sound quality is bad. has a lot of "Jizzzz" sounds or to call it more shrillnes.
- Sound is very loud at the backseat when I connect the Sub and give some volume. Its bearly heard with effect on the drivers seat.
- Bass is not good enough.

Because of the above mentioned issues, I am planning to re-visit on the setup. I am planning to Change the head unit first. Please suggest me which head unit I should go for?

I was planning to visit AudioPlanet in Koramangala. But, will they just put a new headUnit and help me calibrate the current setup?

I have a max budget of Rs 15K now. What can I do to change the current setup sound good. Please advise.

Also, what is a equaliser, will it help in anyway.

Thanks in advance.
