Default Got a Caska HU for my CRV

A long time ago, I asked a question on the Team BHP ICE section which was unfortunately left unanswered. Well, I found the solution and am posting about it..

I got the HU of my CR-V changed to a Caska HU. Caska HU's are specifically made for mainstreams models of most Honda's, Toyotas, Fords etc.

What that means is, that in my CR-V, the Caska CRV HU fit as well as the original one did. No cutting, splicing, modification was required. They match the OEM dashboard size, curvature, colour, finish and even the colour of backlighting perfectly.

The OEM look was also not compromised at all, as one can see in the pictures.

1) The HU fits beautifully in the CR-V dash. The fitment requires no modifications / drilling / cutting of wires.

2) Alongwith the buttons on both sides, one also gets a 7 inch touch screen.

3) The DVD player has fantastic quality.

4) The OEM Steering Controls work with this HU, as well as they did with the original one.

5) The system has inbuilt GPS + Navigation.

6) The bluetooth features are fantastic. the HU connects to all phones Nokias/Iphones/SE. All calls then can be received / dialed from the touchscreen. The voice quality is fantastic with no echos and the onscreen dialpad is easy to use. It also supports music playing through BT.

7) The system is ipod/iphone compatible and USB compatible, and wires for both are included.

8) The SQ has become better after swapping the HUs. The speakers are still OEM.

9) The remote control is a boon for rear passengers.

10) The rear view reversing camera is fit very neatly again a specialised design for the CR-V and works fantastically. It automatically turns on when reverse gear is selected.

11) The system is upgradable. I can add reversing sensors, an automated parking assist system, TPMS, TV Antenna etc.

I got my system fit from Glix, about 6 months ago and am very happy with it.

Wow it looks perfect! It has excellent additional functionality aswell!

A few questions:
1) Do they sell this officially in india? Service, Warranty etc.
2) How much?
3) How 'sensitive' is the touchscreen? Is it easy to use? Not too distracting from the driving?
4) What GPS maps are those?

Great photos btw!

Neat.

Ramie, I got it from Glix, Kolkata. The speed is pretty quick and it comes with subwoofer out, even though currently I am not using it.

Anekho, My answers are in bold.

The Official India launch in in Auto Expo 2010.

2) How much?
Variable, depending on the options you choose.

Its just perfect. Not distracting. Since the steering remote works, I hardly use the screen while driving.

4) What GPS maps are those?
Satguide.

the HU looks really neat with smart features. However, with that price tag i expected it to have a usb2.0 port as well. Now too sure if you could attached ur iphone or usb drives to the HU without a converter.

It has a USB cable for thumbdrives and an IPOD interface cable fit as standard. I had mentioned the same in the original post..

As you have learnt the ICE section does not have the anwer for all questions bit we appreciate you sharing your solution.

1. How do you like the Sound Quality of th Caska HU?
2. DO you have any amplifers, subwoofers, etc.. attached to this HU?
3. What audio related features (EQ, TA, pre outs, etc..) does the Caska HU have that your current OEM HU did not?

Found something similar in the display of a shop in Hong Kong yesterday. Not sure if it was Caska, but it had all the same features. The guy said it was for an Accord and he would give it to me for HKD 7000 (I am sure he would come down in price if one haggles).

The HU is very comprehensive in its feature list but I am still surprised (I unserstand the solution was not provided ion your original thread) that you had to buy a HU for just the need of a remote control.

1. Sound Quality is much better than the OEM HU. Even at high volume, the bass is crisper without distortion.

2. I still have the factory speakers, no amps, no subs. It will take me a while for me to recover from this expenditure then will think about the same.

3. Compared to the OEM unit, it adds
i) RCA out for Front Speakers
ii) RCA Out for Rear Speakers
iii) Subwoofer Out
iv) Multiple eq settings (Jazz, Dance etc)
v) USB Compatibility
vi) Ipod Compatibility
vii) Bluetooth Compatibility (Music Play over BT)

thats pretty much all I remember... the unit also has a bunch of other connection wires at the back which i do not understand ... possibly for video etc.

Dipen, this car is primarily used by my father who uses the rear seat. Hence he was very inconvienced by the lack of a remote. The additional toys are most welcome by me .... obviously

Really neat finish. Looks very OEM.

Quick question: will this fit the older generation CR-Vs also or is it only for the new generation one?
