I dont want to sound like some elitist but how does one explain to the general public that a 8W SE amp driving a pair of horns can outperform a 100W Class AB SS amp driving a pair of compact book shelves. I think we need to wake the sleeping Yeti from his slumber. Sam where are you?

The mass of the essential parts of the horn driver is much, much less than that of the bookshelf speakers. Also, the horn driver diaphragm is not required to move against a massive mass of air, so a lot of energy is saved there. The negligible mass contributes to better dynamics (is able to accelerate much faster and reproduce frequency changes much better). So on and so forth ...
And then you come up against the general perception of "Horns = PA systems = horrible karkash sound"!
Let us give it a try, at least. So now we wait for Sam-bhai to extricate himself from his other duties.
