the 5750 i think does not have time delay. this is another thing i like about alpine. execpt for their bottom line almost all HUs have similar functionality. the 9830, 31, 33, 35 are all very similar for example.

Gunbir, please compare prices with Bill and Warranty what ever thsoe are worth they must cost the company something. The Sony for 13K must be with Bill and Warranty. Pios are very reliable but a Bill and Warranty does cost the company (in taxes and inventory) so it makes sense to compare prices under similar conditions.

Hi Guys

I was just going through crutchfield.com and they r giving two subwoofer for the price of one.[Infinity Reference 1240w
4ohm 12" Component Subwoofer $100
OR Infinity Reference 1040w 10" 4-ohm Component Subwoofer $90]

I had almost made up my mind on infinity ref 5010cs component or 50.7 kappa series for front and infinty ref 5012i for rear.

1..Now as rear spk will cost same as TWO subwoofer, dont u think later is better buy?
Though i dont like excessive 'boom-boom' but i doubt if i can get even some amount of bass with compo in front and 5012 for rear, the feature which i think is must for car audio system.

2..Amplifier will be either alpine 240/MTX thunder 564 or Rockford P4004, all 4-channels.So if i buy subwoofers, i will loose fader control. How will this be going to affect SQ of my car audio system which is THE MOST IMPORTANT THING FOR ME?

3..Which will be better HU [ SQ wise] alpine 9847 or Clarion DXZ845MC?Later is available for $235 on onlinecarstereo.com.

And i am going to tell my relatives in states to buy the stuff for me now and test it in their home before they bring it here after few weeks.

Thanx in advance......

http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAu...roductID=13667
This is the link for clarion DXZ845MC HU and guys who have written its reviews have highly appreciated it,even over alpine.

Even its features, mentioned by web site r quite impressive like music cather,ADF,megna bass and rear aux input etc.

Also do help me in chossing amplifier which i mentioned in previous post.

1. I would take 2 subs over rear speakers (all things being equal).
2. you could get a very nice sounding system with just front compinents and the subs if you take care that the subs dont over power the comps.
3. 9847 and 845MC ha ha that is a hornets nest. I'd take the 845MC. but at that price i might take the 9853 (replaces the 9830).
4. how are you going to test car audio equipment in a home? the subs would require boxes as would the components. the HU would require 12V and ignition wire. what they can do is install all this in a car and uninstall it. that woudl cost some money or time (if they know how to install this equipment). what would they do with the sub boxes once they get the subs to you?

The Clarion 845 HU from the link you posted is a 2004 model which was discontinued end 2004. The current model 855 looks like this and retails for US$700 (Crutchfield offers for $500)

Though you may not afford the new one, I dont suggest you buy the outdated one. Look for something else from Clarion's current range, they make good sounding HUs. I strongly suggest the Kenwood Excelon KDC-X589 which has a 24Bit DAC, great features, build quality and sound. This is going cheap on crutchfield for $250 only. Also, they have an offer where you can get a Kenwood 4ch amp for only $100 extra.

Can u plz explain this for me?

I did some more research on clarion model and reviews r not that encouraging. So i think i shud stick to Alpine 9847/9851/9853.
Any major advantage of 9853 over other apart from looks, display and remote? Also clarion model was launched almost 18 months back and alpine is more latest.
Gunbir has used clarion HU in getz install.Sop he can also through some light on this.

And navin what abt amplifiers?Which one will give my speakers crisp and cleaner sound?Dont u think if i go for 2 subs, then i shud also go for amplifier with higher power?

I think adapter can take care of this.We all use adapters to run gaming consoles and few other equipments to deliver required amount of
When i was doing MBBS many guys would buy car stereo and use 'matka'[earthen pots] as spk boxes. And trust me they all sounded good. And they must have used some adapter.

Navin...my relative will only run it for me for few weeks and not test the sound quality so that if any component developssome snag they can easily exchange it before they bring the stuff here.

Thanx......

Thanx Gunbir

yeah......clarion 855 is out of reach for me.My total budget is $600-700.And other reason is that i want to spend better part of money for Speakers and amplifier and not HU.I also read about 845 that its outdated.
What information i have gathered from internet is that alpine is best in business in HU and same is case with infinty speakers.

Kenwood HU which u mentioned seems to be good one and i do have high respect for Kenwood and blaupunkt. But i still doubt if it can deliver same SQ as alpine does.I have not listened to any other except sony, jvc or some low end pio but my gut feeling is that i should go for alpine HU over others. But obviously u guys know much better than me.
Is the difference in SQ is really noticeable between alpine and other HU or i have really gone crazy about alpine? In other words do u think for same price we should go for alpine than any other?

RSJ... Simply to say any brand product has great SQ simply because they have X brand name on them is wrong. A great product is the sum of great parts. And most brands have some bad, some average and some great products.

Lets compare these two products.. at $250, Alpine 9851 Vs Kenwood 589

Kenwood Pros over the Alpine:
a. Higher SN Ratio
b. Separate Front and Rear High Pass
c. 24Bit Burr Brown DAC
d. Bass / Mid / Treble controls with Parametric EQ on all 3 bands

Alpine makes some great products and their build quality is very nice. For the same money, I would pick the Kenwood. But, end of the day, Its your money, your decision and you alone have to live with your decision.

Hi Gunbir........
I think u r hurt what i said.I am extremely sorry for that.
Whenever i post any query in this forum i look forward to navin, you and sam for help.[franknly speaking in that order]

My problem is that i cant even listen to various components before i buy them.So i just have to depend on you guys, information and my gut feeling.[again in that order]

After ur post i read about kenwood HU more than before and i think they r excellent in SQ.U have mentioned about Kenwood 589 for 250 but Kenwood Excelon KDC-X789 is available for 237 on onlinecarstereo.com.How about that??

Now it will be toss up between alpine 9851/53 or kenwood 789.
Most probably amp will be alpine 240.
Gunbir u have advised MDF rings for door speakers.Does that mean i may not need dynamat?Plz do reply as i am going to tell mt relatives to buy the stuff soon.

The Kenwood's 24 bit burr brown DAC is not found even on the Alpine 9853.

2 Infinity 1040W subs for $90
1 pair Infinity 5010cs $144
1 pair Infinity 5012i $80
that leave you about $300-400 for a HU and amp.
The Kenwood (589) deal will now cost you $20 more. $250 for the HU and $129 ($179-50) for the 6402 amp. making that $380 for HU+AMP.

total just under $700: $380 for HU+amp, $314 for speakers.

any other brand will cost you alteast $70 more ($450 for HU + amp) see choices below.

An alpine combo like the 9851 $250 and 240 $200 would cost you $450. upgrading to the 9853 would increase that to $550.

The Clarion 655 $250 along with a MTX 564 $200 is another option under $450.

I'm using crutchfiled only.
