That is not entirely correct.

a. Some amps have a "sweet spot" and have lowest distrotion in that sweet spot often having slightly higher distortion at wattages LOWER than the sweet spot.

b. When distortion sets in, it sets in fast. It is not linear. It is exponential.

but yes in general more power often means more distortion...remember we are only talking about amplifiers here. Speakers distort too.
