what are you planing to power with this amp? it depends on how much power you require from this amp. matching this is important.

as for the amp,i have the smaller brother of this amp JBL A604. very nice amp and have been using it for the last 2yrs. Very satisfied.

mine is powering a pair of 6.5" in the front doors and rear channel is powering a 1200w Jbl gt5 s12 woofer. amp is powerful enough and maintains a good SQ as well.

since S644 is the upgraded version of the A604 , this is definitely work well.

This amp should do fine with the 608C, i have heard a similar setup where it was running a GT5 subwoofer instead of a 6X9 and it was really good.

Initially I also wanted to go for the woofer. But my dad and the budget did not let me too.
I will be using the same amp for amplifying the rear 400w ovals too.
So planning to amplify all 4 speakers through this amp.

and sateesh , your frank opinion on the 608c and the 948 ovals ?

I am currently using this amplifier to power two sets of jbl s265c components in my car, they are pretty decent for the price. I think you should go for it.

The 608c is one of my favourites, I would recommend this to any one who wants decent SQ at a budget. If the setup is only for you and not the rear passengers, you can replace the ovals with a sub-woofer without much increace in the budget. Not that the ovals are bad, just a suggestion

Even I would have loved to have sub but the car is mostly be going to do out of station trips with luggage to carry. So wouldn't want to encroach upon the already small boo space. that's the only reason I'm going for this.
Going to miss the bass of the sub though.
Hope the 400 w JBL GTO 948 give some bass after being amplified.

Running 608c and a gt5 sub with the 644 in my friends swift. They sound pretty good and are worth the price you pay for it. Go for it.

I have A604 doing the duty in my cedia. I bought it in January 2008 and there is not even a single complaint as such. The amp powers two set of JBL speakers, the 937at the rear and the 638 in the front. The amp also powers the JBL1100 base tube and Pioneer TS20s tweetors. I am very satisfied with the performance, no problem at all.

The A644 and 948s should be very good. Go for it.

The a604 is a 4 channel 600watt amp, so how have you set it up to power 5 channels?
