Is there any basic HU that plays Mp3 from USB only and FM as well.CD player is not needed. I came across some cheap HU's , are they worth it ?

You'll get cheaper unbranded HUs w/o any CD facility. But still, I would recommend you to buy a low cost branded USB enabled HU !

Checked !! .Didn't impress me .I has knobs for bass, treble etc (resembles old b&w TV) and some calculator lcd display .The one in the link looks way better. Don't know its the pic of original one.
@mithun - Your are correct .But checking out other options as well .Normally what is see is people only listen to FM else they use USB if available .Hence these people don't carry around Cd's. I also hate to. The branded ones always have this cd drive.

Depends on what exactly you mean by cheap.

There are unbranded ones available for 800 w/o warranty and 1200 with warranty. The dealer will be happy to put a logo of your choice on the unit.

On the other hand, most branded non-CD players are usually made for ipod and I guess they dont come cheap, (especially when they have to pay some royalty to Apple) for Made for Ipod / Iphone tag.

You would get a basic HU with CD/USB option for 6-7k

its fairly easy to make one. you get chinese USB/SD -> aux boards, and LA4440 IC based stereo amplifiers and BT ( Bass-Treble) boards are a local cottage industry. put two and two together = low cost HU!

Hey, I bought Pioneer 2290UB with CD, USB, AUX + iPods and iPhone support for Rs. 5900 + 100 bucks for the connectors used.

Great sound quality as compared to the stock player Ford Sanyo branded.
