Vivek

Take Voltmeter (Set at DC) and connect +ve lead to the battery and try touching the negative lead of the voltmeter at the different screws and bolts (already under the seat etc.)..where ever you get the exact voltage of the battery...thats ur best grounding point. Take the reading both with engine on and off.

Cheers

Brilliant idea JB. I shall try it out tomorrow morning.
McLaren, Gunbir, I will rip apart the rear seat and see what I can do first.

Ok boys. All done. My 6100 is installed. The only thing left to do is the amp needs to be fitted to the back of the seat.

First impressions, WOW! Yahoo! Wohoooo! Yippee! Yay! I am going mad with excitement.

Seriously, the sound is quite clean. The amp plays pretty loud. But bass seems a little flatter than with the HU's internal amp. There is thump but sounds different. Mids and highs are better than before.

About setting the gain on the amp. I read an article on the net about setting gain. It said make all the HU settings flat. Turn up the volume on the HU till it begins distorting. Then with the volume on the HU just below the point where it begins to distort, adjust the gain pots on the amp again till the speakers begin to distort. This is roughly what the article said. I will try to find the link and post it again.

However, there is a hiss when nothing is playing. Not too loud but audible. What is that? Otherwise this setup rocks.

I have exactly the same problem. When the volume is set at "0", this hiss is there... as i increase the volume the hiss is suppressed completly by the music.
Long time back, some one here in this forum said could be because of a dud amp. But other than this, my setup performs really well, and dosnt distort at all.
And yes i also use the BOSS cables.

Is that a question or a decision ? I could have advised you some good products but that would be soliciting.

Vivek, while the process you mentioned is a great for newbies, it is not the correct way to set amp gains... You have mail...

Try lowering the gain a bit. That should make it better.
