Gigly, you are somewhat right in what I’m looking for in a two battery setup. Long hours of usage outdoors when parked, engine 'OFF' and doors/boot open, Music/Video 'ON', Party Mode .

This way I wouldn’t have to bother even if the second battery runs low or ultimately flat. Will save me the trouble of push-starting the car and hence the embarrassment.

I have seen all the comments, but I would recommend not to running the setup without the engine running. The amp might get damage with low voltage from the battery without alternator charging it.

+1
Its like running an engine lean.
Can't you just let the engine idle when you're stationary and in 'party mode'?

This is something which i would not let it happen as it may cause alot damage if done frequently.

A lesson well learnt for me, thanks guys, I'll stick to a powerful single battery and keep the engine runing when in "Parked Party Mode"

I cant get how running engine lean and amplifier in low voltage are same. in that case low voltage protection should have been a must in all amplifiers, it not the case though.most of them have input/output short and over voltage protection. i think mtx and rockford have undervoltage cutoff.

I will recommend keep the exhaust out of the dance area

Gigly, you do have a point and that was my concern right from the beginning, my FFE sounds great but is not so favorable when in party mode. also the exhaust, although no visible smoke would have a bad affect in some way.

hey, what if i fit a battery isolator? would that help?

guess the case is re-opened

There are Kinetik Batteries that are available on sonicelectronix.com, they seem to be better than the Optima, have a look at it.

Instead of wasting on Dry cell batteries (which I have done earlier, though while it lasted it was good as I had a Stinger Sp1000) as they dont really last proportional to their cost.
after I was on a position when I could not source a Stinger battery again after mine went kaput, I bought a 80 Amps base terminal battery and that lasted a severe pounding for 1.5 years, costed 1/5th of the Stinger.

for those who dont know I was running about 1800 RMS coming out of 3 amps using a stock alternator.

What you probably need is a good Battery charging system like a Deltran Battery Tender or a CTEK battery charger. This will charge your car battery on the go, and really enhances life and for the big Audio boys will let you avoid the trouble of dipping charge and above all pushing the car.

Some links for your reference

Deltran Battery tender

Battery Tender Plus - Batterytender.com

Why Batterytender - Batterytender.com

CTEK XS3600

CTEK battery charger - US 800, MULTI US 3300, MULTI US 7000

Cheers.
