Default My i20 asta(o) 1.2 ICE quest

hi all, i have not even got the car with me but my ICE hunt has already started. There are still around 20 days for my ride to come home and i have already started preparing for it. Have finalized the rims and tyre and now the ICE. By now i have procured the following ICE equipment for my ride:-

Front Compos - Illusion Audio Carbon Nd6.1i
Rear Coax - DLS classic 426
Wiring - Connections Audison amp and speaker wires.

Yet to buy:-
Sub - IDv3 12" (buying shortly)
A 4 Channel amp / mono amp - HK CA470 / infinity kappa 4 / kenny 8105d / Audison lrx 6.9

Now, I am left with the amps, have shortlisted the above but still not finalized. Just trying to figure out all the options in my budget. A thread on the amp is already posted on the "ask the gurus". Will Soon post the pics.
What do u guys think about my ICE equipment, I know its nothing compared to most of the ICE equipments listed on this forum.

sorry to say, but the Stock ICE is pathetic to say the least. I don't know why u saying its good. But, thanks for the suggestion, I need all the possible solutions to end my ICE quest in my budget.

This is for everyone who don't want to go through the entire post in brief.
Please give me the best combinations in 35k for a 4 channel amp + Mono amp to run the foll:
Illusion Carbons 6.1
DLS 426 coax
IDv3 12" sub

Well i20 has the best ICE in cars under 10lac. Of course an audiophile will never be satisfied, even with equipment worth lacs.

How much power are you looking for sub and speakers ?

Will a 5 CH amp do the duty for you ?

I am not looking at the power, i just want to be sure that whatever I buy is good enough for the Carbons as they are rated at 100w rms. Most of the amps in my budget are rated between 70 - 80w rms, so i want to now would this be enough for these speakers.

How is the rainbow iPaul 4.300 amp and what is it cost. Would this amp be better or equivalent to Audison lrx or HK ca470 or infinity kappa four ?

Rainbow must be around 27k i guess. A member here bought it for that much i guess. I cannot really comment on how good or bad the amp is compared to the others.

Will 65-70 x 4 @ 4 OHM (for speakers) and 400 x 1 @2 ohm (for sub) do ?

BTW are you planning to change the HU ?

hey, that's what i am asking, would 70w rms be enough for the illusion Carbons or not ? i think 400 watts is enough fr the sub, but my main concern are the carbons. I want them to run at their full potential as i have spent a lot on them. Ok, so the following amps have been shortlisted for the speakers, pls help me come to a decision.
  1. Infinity kappa four
  2. rainbow iPaul 4.300
  3. HK CA 470
  4. JL audio 300/4
  5. Audison lrx6.9 (got to know that it wouldn't be good enough for the sub, i mean compared to a mono amp)
For the Sub i have finalized the kenwood 8105d, anything better in the same price range, let me know.
As of now, I am sticking with the stock HU, firstly budget constraints and secondly don't want to spoil the stock look.

If you are sticking with the stock HU i don't know how you will power everything. AFAIK i20 Stock HU has only 4 speaker output and no pre-out (i can be wrong).

If you leave the rear speakers 65W RMS will be enough for Carbons as i heard they can be bi-amped. So you can power each midbass / tweeter 65W each.

BTW you will need a HLA a good one to do justice to the equipment. So keep around 7-8k aside for that.

I dont know about the other amps in question here but if you wish to retain the stock HU then the audison LRx amps allow the installer to change from a low level input (RCA) to high level inputs (speaker level) by simply changing the module (both are supplied with the amp). The module with High Level inputs can be used in this case as OE HU is to be retained.

Here are some pics taken from an install done by ice guru gunbir where stock HU was used to run the entire setup completely comprising of front comps, rear coax and 2 10" subs.

Class AB power will be good enough for your sub. Just that Class D amps are more efficient so will draw less current. However among the listed choice all are good. Lrx6.9 is one amp solution and it has regulated power supply which means it will still give the same amount of output between 12 to 14.4v. The other good pick would be the Infinity and JL audio.
Pick anyone of these and you'll be happy.
