Default Need advice on ICE setup on my Fiesta

Hi All,

I have a Ford Fiesta and the current ICE setup on my ride is as follows.

1. Head Unit: pioneer 4290SD

2. Front Kicker Components DS650.2 powered by a JBL 2 channel amplifier

3. No rear speakers

4. Sub-woofers: Polk db124 single voice coil woofers x 2.

Each woofer gives out 360 watts RMS so 360x2= 720 Watts RMS

The woofers are powered by a Kenwood 9104-D MONO amplifier that gives out 900wats RMS in 2ohm setup in which my woofers are connected.

The thing is I am not able to get a good sound setup in my car. The bass is not what I wanted it to be, it is loud but it hits with a hard thud and not a soft boom.

Planning to do in the next 2 months.

1. Change the front Kicker comps to Polk db650 comps
2. Get a Polk db571 5x7" oval speakers for the rear
3. Change the two channel JBL amp to Kenwood 845--- 4 channel amp to power the front comps and the rear speakers

Need all Gurus advice to set up the ICE properly.

Please let me know what changes I need to make. There is also a lot of vibration/rattling from my boot and the number plate.

Polk db124 is a nice subwoofer.
The tightness of bass depends a lot on the box. It appears that for your taste, the box size is a bit small causing the bass to hit hard.

You should have known by now, Damping does wonders.

For that sub hitting hard with a thud, you can try using some polyfill in the existing enclosure

Sathee46, yes I know that damping is required but that is for the rattling part, but I am not satisfied with the soundquality. I am just looking for that, should I add a rear speakers on my car?

Open the door pad on the trunk lid and stuff closed-cell foam wherever there is a cable or a wire passing through. Make sure the such cables and wires don't move when jerked by hand.

Take off the number plate, lay down strips of double-sided tape. Mount the number plate back on and press down the number plate so that the plate sticks to the double-sided tape properly.

For starters, you may replace the components for better sound quality.

Rear speakers might not have any impact, they are to make people sitting in the rear happy. You wont need them if you have a good front stage.

1. IMHO, you can upgrade to better Components
3. If you are planning the rear speakers as a rear fill onl why bother spending on amplifying it ? Instead opt for a better brand of Components and 2-Ch Amplifier

Good sound is not abou t having 'X' nmber of speakers or 'X' number of Amplifier. You must have listented to Sathish and Bakiya's ICE. So you must be knowing the fact that Good sound will need some good investment too

What is the enclosure size you are using? and are the Subs facing the rear lights or the opposite direction.
Damping is surely is a way to start, especially in the boot lid.

My subs are facing the tail lights, I mean the boot lid. I have both the subs in a sealed box, not sure of the size of the enclosure.

PS: A quick question. Could anybody tell me how much will a Boston G3 310-4, 10 inches sub-woofer cost in India.

Did you try them when facing the passenger side?

No I have not tried them, was afraid if the bass would be too much and it would make my comps not heard.

You don't plan to tune your system when you make changes?
