I think you can use the setup i have been using in my car.
HU- JVC KD x30 ( Couldnt get x40. )
Front- JBL CS series.
Rear- JBL 6x9. ( The whole boot kinda acts like an enclosure and bass is nice. )
Later on you can use an amp and a set of 4" illusion components.

We did some thing similar recently, the focus was to get equipment in limited money but should be expandable and should be quality stuff as compared to normal.

We used a Pre installed Pioneer Headunit. i am sure one can find a pioneer headunit in under 5K, and we got a pair of Bullaudio components for 5.5 K
