@blueraven316: thanks a ton for the details. I think I am slowly catching the ICE bug and I am doing my ground work before I start planning for the upgrade

Read up on the Clarion before you dismiss it. Class GH gives you the best of both worlds - high efficiency (the main benefit of class D) and SQ comparable to Class AB.

So the amp is a lot more versatile - you can use it for your sub by wiring one channel to each voice coil of the sub. Or you can just bridge it.

Alternatively, you can use it to power your front components if you wish (because it is a full range amplifier). All this flexibility by adjusting crossover settings.

@CrackedHead, I understand the benefits of going for clarion over mono, but the feedback about clarion service in india is scaring me. My HU is Clarion 785USB, so I have done my research on their servicing here.

For full range I already have a 4 channel - a Kenwood 8405.

I haven't come across any feedback on Clarion service - could you please share the information you have.

PS: I have the same HU.

3. SNR - ?
4. THD - ?
There is no such parameter for a good SQL amp, specs can be pretty misleading, I have run a Brutus mono @ 2 0hms running a 600 RMS Hifonics sub and it has been doing fine till date on a friend's car, it depends on how the amp's output is through the gain levels and also one has to know the driver's (sub) break point, but that not everyone can do really just by listening to it.

My point, you probably have to hear the amp play before you decide whether the amp is the type of SQL your ears like. Everyone's tastes and preferences are different.

@blueraven316, I don't know anyone who is running JackHammer in Bangalore. Most of the amps we discuss in tbhp are not available for audition, if available they have a different configuration.

For someone like me, the best bet is to get an opinion from someone like you or believe the user reviews available online.
